Beaver Dam Farms is seeking an exceptional Controller to oversee and lead the financial operations of our diverse and growing businesses. This is not a traditional accounting position—this is an opportunity for a driven leader to build systems, develop people, improve processes, and help shape the future of an extraordinary organization.

Nestled on approximately 1,000 acres, Beaver Dam Farms is a private estate featuring a working farm, cattle operations, a private 18-hole golf course, lodging, special projects, and multiple real estate holdings. Position Summary

The Controller will have complete responsibility for the accounting and financial operations of Beaver Dam Farms and its affiliated entities. This individual will oversee accounting staff, establish internal controls, implement policies and procedures, ensure financial accuracy, and provide leadership across multiple businesses.

This position requires someone who is proactive, highly organized, detail-oriented, and confident leading people while improving processes. We are looking for someone who doesn't wait to be told what to do—they identify opportunities, create solutions, and execute at a high level.

ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Finance

  • Oversee all accounting functions across multiple companies
  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Maintain accurate general ledgers
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Financial statement preparation and analysis
  • Budget preparation and financial forecasting
  • Cash flow management
  • Fixed asset tracking
  • Maintain accounting records and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate with outside CPA firms during tax preparation and year-end reporting

Payroll & Human Resources

  • Oversee payroll processing
  • Manage employee records and personnel files
  • Ensure compliance with payroll and employment regulations
  • Assist with onboarding and HR administration
  • Develop and maintain HR procedures

Leadership & Operations

  • Supervise and develop the accounting and administrative team
  • Create and implement policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Improve operational efficiencies across departments
  • Ensure financial integrity and accountability throughout the organization
  • Build scalable systems as the business continues to grow
  • Work closely with ownership and executive leadership on strategic initiatives

Real Estate Accounting

  • Maintain accounting for multiple commercial and residential real estate entities
  • Track leases, rent collections, expenses, and capital improvements
  • Reconcile property financials
  • Coordinate reporting across multiple ownership entities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred but not required)
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Previous Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Experience managing payroll and HR administration
  • Experience supervising employees
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • High level of integrity and professionalism
