Job description

We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead core accounting operations for a growing business in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. This role is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented finance specialist who can manage day-to-day financial activities while providing dependable oversight of payroll, reporting, and compliance. The position supports a primarily virtual team and offers the opportunity to help strengthen financial processes as the organization continues to expand.
Responsibilities:
• Direct daily accounting activities, including invoice processing, receivables tracking, cash application, and general ledger accuracy.
• Lead the monthly close cycle by preparing reconciliations, reviewing financial results, and ensuring timely reporting.
• Manage payroll administration and provide financial oversight for related records and controls.
• Support HR-related administrative processes tied to payroll and employee financial documentation.
• Oversee sales tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions in the United States, including filings and record maintenance.
• Maintain accounting practices aligned with IFRS standards and ensure consistency in financial reporting.
• Monitor cash flow, account balances, and transaction activity to support sound financial operations.
• Partner with leadership on budgeting, financial analysis, and improvements to accounting workflows as the business grows.• At least 5 years of experience in a Controller or senior accounting position.
• Strong background in month-end close and full-cycle accounting operations.
• Proven experience managing accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
