Job description

Controller 10810
The Controller oversees all accounting and financial reporting functions for the university, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. This role leads daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, purchasing, treasury, grants, and endowments, while supervising finance staff and supporting process and systems improvements.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all accounting systems, financial reporting, and audits (including financial statements, IRS filings, and regulatory reports such as IPEDS and NCAA)
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and GAAP standards
  • Develop and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting
  • Oversee day-to-day finance operations (AP/AR, payroll, general ledger, purchasing, treasury, endowments)
  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and investment activities
  • Support budgeting alignment and monitor financial performance
  • Coordinate with auditors, banks, and external stakeholders
  • Ensure accurate reporting for grants, endowments, and compliance requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory role
