Vice Chair of Clinical Operations

Department of Radiation Oncology

Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Inc.

The Department of Radiation Oncology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston is actively seeking full-time Radiation Oncology faculty members with expertise in their selected disease site subspecialty to serve as the Vice Chair of Clinical Operations.

As a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School, BIDMC and the Department of Radiation Oncology, provide a clinically advanced and supportive academic environment for residents, fellows, and faculty. We're also proud and excited to be an integral part of the landmark collaboration among Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI), Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) to establish New England's only freestanding adult inpatient cancer hospital. The collaboration will provide unparalleled opportunities for radiation oncology and other physician specialties to be part of DFCI's internationally recognized cancer team.

As Vice Chair of Clinical Operations, this individual will provide strategic and operational leadership and guidance for the delivery of high-quality radiation oncology care across the department. Serving as the primary clinical operations leader, they will oversee the design and optimization of workflows, staffing models, and care delivery systems to ensure reliable, efficient, and patient-centered services. In close partnership with radiation oncology executive and operational leadership, physicians, trainees, nursing, therapy, physics, and administrative teams, the Vice Chair will guide performance management, resource planning, and continuous improvement efforts while representing the department in institutional clinical operations forums. They will also serve as an ambassador for the department at the institutional, national, and international levels, sharing best practices and advancing operational excellence in radiation oncology.

Responsibilities will include clinical care with a focus on their selected disease site subspeciality in radiation oncology, teaching and research activity at the Main Campus in Boston as appropriate with an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School at the rank of Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to be determined based on experience and qualifications. This role is an employment model position in Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. Following regulatory approval, successful candidates will also provide clinical care at DFCI.

  • MA Controlled Substance Registration

Pay Range:

$470,000 - $537,500

The base pay range reflects what Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (HMFP) reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this role at the time of posting and may be modified from time to time. Actual compensation within this range may be determined based on several factors, including academic appointment, work experience, specialty training, geography of work location, anticipated productivity, FTE basis, and role expectations. In addition to base compensation, this role may be eligible for performance-based incentives, which may include bonuses for productivity and quality HMFP also offers a comprehensive and generous employee benefits program to eligible employees, including health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, as well as retirement plan(s) with employer contributions.
