Our consultants work directly with clients across a wide range of industries, bringing hands-on experience and a solutions-driven approach to every engagement.
About the Role
NOW CFO is seeking an experienced Construction Controller to join our consulting team in the Austin, TX market. In this role you will work directly with construction clients, providing financial leadership and hands-on accounting support across active projects and operations.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee full-cycle accounting operations including month-end and year-end close
  • Manage job costing, work-in-progress (WIP) reporting, and project-level financial tracking
  • Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
  • Monitor and analyze project budgets, cost variances, and profitability
  • Manage subcontractor billing, lien waivers, and contract compliance
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal controls
  • Partner with project managers and executive leadership to provide financial visibility
  • Support bonding, banking, and audit relationships as needed

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of Controller-level experience with a strong focus in the construction industry
  • Extensive knowledge of job costing and WIP accounting required
  • Familiarity with construction-specific ERP systems (Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, Procore, Foundation, or similar) preferred
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA a plus
  • Ability to work onsite with clients in the Austin, TX area
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, client-facing consulting environment
