About Us: The Launch Box, LLC is the engine of the fastest growing and most successful new professional services firms. The Launch Box provides investment capital, strategic advice, comprehensive services, and turnkey systems to accelerate the launch-to-scale-to-exit timeline and reduce risk for founders. With an expert team and variable cost structure, we increase the probability of success while building valuable, sustainable, and marketable professional services firms.
The Launch Box is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Assistant Controller to join our team in Austin.
The ideal candidate will lead and oversee accounting functions across multiple US client companies, bringing structure, rigor, and scalability to financial operations. This role requires a hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced, startup environments, can manage competing priorities with minimal direction, and has a strong foundation in both US GAAP and international accounting practices.
This is a hybrid role, with the expectation of being in the office regularly to collaborate with team members. Our office includes amenities such as a gym and other perks to support in-person engagement.
What You Will Do:

  • Oversee general accounting operations including accounts payable/receivable, revenue recognition, compensation, and payroll-related activities
  • Prepare and review account reconciliations and financial statements in compliance with US GAAP
  • Manage and optimize intercompany accounting and ensure proper handling of inter-entity transactions and transfer pricing between MX and US entities
  • Establish, document, and continuously improve accounting processes, controls, and workflows to support business scalability
  • Design and implement accounting controls from scratch and perform internal audits / pressure-testing to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Collaborate with external auditors and support annual audit processes
  • Ensure compliance with Mexican accounting and tax regulations, including oversight of SAT and IMSS requirements
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to leadership to support strategic decision-making
  • Support financial forecasting, client presentations, and ad-hoc reporting requests
  • Mentor accounting staff, managing priorities, and driving accountability within the team
  • Operate effectively in a dynamic, startup environment, balancing multiple priorities with minimal direction
  • Manage internal controls and processes to ensure robust financial governance

Your knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 2 - 5 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong foundation in US GAAP and financial reporting
  • Proven ability to improve, document, and scale accounting processes
  • Experience working within international company structures
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently with little to no direction
  • Advanced Excel skills (functions, formulas, pivot tables)
  • Applicants must have authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship

Nice to Have:
  • Experience with Sage Intacct and/or CONTPAQ
  • Previous experience in due diligence, especially for company exits
  • Background in Big 4 (audit, tax, or due diligence)
  • Experience in professional services, VC, PE, or family office environments
  • Experience with inter-entity transactions and transfer pricing
  • Experience working in a small company or startup environment
  • CPA or equivalent certification
  • End-to-end ownership of processes with a collaborative approach

Why The Launch Box? We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for our team. If you have a special need that requires accommodation, please let your recruiter know.
We currently offer the following benefits:
  • Access to medical, dental, and vision insurance through Cigna, with the majority of the employee cost covered by the employer
  • Employer funding to HSA accounts and FSA access
  • Access to a 401(k) through Vanguard with a guaranteed employer contribution
  • Flexible vacation policy that allows you to manage your schedule and rest and recharge when you need to
  • 11 holidays with flexibility based on what is important for you and those you love
  • Family-friendly benefits, including weeks off for Maternity leave, weeks off for non-birthing parent leave, employer-paid short-term and long-term disability, employer-paid life insurance, and access to additional life insurance, hospital coverage, accidental coverage, discounted mental health support, and more
