Control Tower Specialist, Road Transport US

Chandler, Nearest Major Market: Phoenix

The Control Tower Specialist plays a critical role in overseeing and managing end-to-end logistics operations. This position is responsible for monitoring real-time transportation flows, resolving shipment issues, analyzing data for insights, and ensuring on-time delivery performance. The Control Tower Specialist works closely with internal teams, clients, and carriers to optimize supply chain efficiency and enhance customer satisfaction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage shipment schedules and coordinate transportation operations.
  • Monitor shipments and provide updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Communicate with carriers and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Analyze transportation data to identify areas for improvement and cost savings.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement and customer service, to ensure smooth transportation operations.
  • Develop and implement transportation strategies to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Actively troubleshoot and resolve delays, deviations, and operational challenges to minimize service interruptions.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for internal stakeholders, customers, and carriers, providing updates and resolving inquiries.
  • Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time delivery rates, service levels, and operational efficiency.
  • Leverage transportation management systems (TMS) and other logistics platforms to manage shipments and improve visibility.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Educational background / Work experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree or higher in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field is a plus.
  • 2+ years in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or a related field.
  • Experience in a Control Tower or Operations Center environment is a plus.
  • Experience with international shipping and customs regulations is preferred.
  • Professional certifications, such as APICS or Six Sigma preferred.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international shipping regulations preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Knowledge of transportation management systems and other logistics software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and accuracy skills.
  • Familiarity with Lean or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus.
  • Team player, proactive, customer-focused, and adaptable to changing environments.
  • Language Skills: Fluent in English (oral and written).
  • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Familiarity with transportation management systems, such as SAP or Oracle, is preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • This is primarily a sedentary role. The Control Tower Specialist is regularly required to sit for extended periods and to use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other standard office equipment.
  • The employee must be able to speak and hear clearly for frequent verbal communication with carriers, customers, and internal stakeholders via phone and video conference.
  • Close visual acuity is required to read and analyze data on computer screens and in written reports for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Occasional standing, walking, and reaching may be required.

The expected base pay range is $25.00 – $37.50 Hourly. Actual compensation will be determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location, in accordance with applicable laws and company policy.
