Job Description

Job Brief:

Control Tech is expanding into the Residential & Commercial Electrical division and we're looking for the person to support in building it.

The successful candidate will be licensed, already running service calls, have existing relationships and a track record of bringing in clients with the appetite to build something they own the outcome of, backed by an established company's resources instead of starting from scratch.

You'll start hands-on: diagnosing, installing, running service calls, and doing the work yourself. But the real mandate is bigger; which is to create division's structure, pricing, and workflows. You can bring your book of business (or the instinct to build one fast), and potentially grow into the Team Lead role as the division scales.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical issues in residential and commercial settings
  • Install electrical systems including panels, breakers, lighting, outlets, switches, and circuits
  • Perform panel upgrades, service upgrades, and remodel electrical work
  • Run and pull wire, bend conduit (EMT/PVC), and complete clean, code-compliant installations
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications
  • Test systems for safety and functionality
  • Communicate clearly with customers regarding issues and solutions
  • Complete service calls efficiently with high-quality workmanship
  • Maintain job documentation, time tracking, and materials used
  • Ensure all work complies with NEC and local Texas codes
  • Participate in on-call rotation as required
  • Build and maintain relationships with property managers, general contractors, real estate agents, and repeat commercial clients to create a steady referral pipeline.
  • Represent Control Tech at local trad events, homeowner associations, and networking groups to generate brand visibility and leads.
  • Ability to convert service calls into long-term client relationships through follow-up, reliability and proactive communication.
  • Track lead sources and client acquisition metrics to identify whatโ€™s working and refine outreach strategy over time.

Division Building & Leadership:

  • Lead and support in building and scaling the DFW service division from the ground up
  • Contribute to service structure, workflows, and pricing strategies
  • Lead tools, trucks, and materials setup
  • Lead hiring, training, and mentoring of electricians and apprentices
  • Establish a culture of safety, accountability, and high standards
  • Identify growth opportunities (new services, customers, improvements)
  • Develop systems and processes to support long-term scalability
  • Take ownership of resultsโ€”not just assigned task

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Valid Texas Journeyman or Residential Wireman License
  • Strong troubleshooting ability (non-negotiable) & ability to work independently
  • 5+ years of Residential and/or commercial service experience
  • Lead by example in quality, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Solid NEC knowledge and safe work practices
  • Strong customer communication skills
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles).
  • Completion of a criminal background check, with results assessed based on relevance to the position.
  • Verification of a clean driving record, as defined by Control Techโ€™s standards (e.g., no major violations, no more than 3 infractions in the past 5 years).

Leadership Mindset & Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrates strong ownership - approaches work with an entrepreneurial mindset, treating responsibilities as if managing their own business
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Strong work ethic; leads by example
  • Willing to train and mentor others
  • Motivated to grow into leadership
  • Service-based electrical experience
  • Team leadership or apprentice mentoring
  • Familiar with Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, etc.
  • Experience with generators, EV chargers, or smart home installs
  • OSHA 10 or 30

Self-Management Behaviors (expected of all employees in the Control Tech family):

  • Self-Awareness: Recognizes impact on others, knows strengths and limitations, sense of self-worth and confidence.
  • Self-Control: Disruptive emotions and impulses are in check, maintains consistency with core values.
  • Maintains Motivation: Strives to learn, to improve and to be successful.
  • Listening and Speaking Respectfully: Listens generously - clarifies meaning and intent, speaks straight and respectfully.
  • Collaborator: Works effectively on teams with a wide variety of people, resolves conflict directly and productively, contributes to the success of others

Leadership Behaviors (expected of Leaders at all levels in Control Tech):

  • Create Clear Direction: Creates a clear path forward with a drive to win and focus on results, championโ€™s the Mission, Vision and Brand of Control Tech. Engages and communicates with all employees what is the direction of the company and how their actions contribute.
  • Coach: Defines roles and goals for all team members, measures and manages results, delivers feedback that enforces productive behavior and builds on successes.
  • Model: Demonstrates the behaviors and attitudes required for success, prioritizes time to focus on high value activities, learns continuously and creates this condition for their team.
