The Precision Control and Actuation Systems department consists of nearly 150 engineers working collab­oratively with internal and external customers and programs to provide innovative solutions for controlling our products motion, including ground, sea, and air launched vehi­cles used by a variety of end users who depend on the quality and integ­rity of our systems. Our systems in­clude control algorithms and firmware, electronic control units, ac­tuators containing high power mo­tors and precision gear trains, electronic harnessing design, and other components for interfacing with the vehicle and packaging the control assemblies. Due to the highly cross-functional nature of these sys­tems, we are constantly looking for talented engineers with a system-so­lution mindset. ​

This position is for a candidate who will be ready to contribute to the PCAS team with innovative solutions for challenging problems of mechanical/control systems and/or harness/interconnects.​

This role is located in Tucson, AZ (On-site).

What You Will Do:

You will contribute your knowledge of engineering practices and problem-solving to perform mechanical design and development activities.​
You will support, contribute, and collaborate in a team environment, receiving inputs from program or team experts, and work on projects, determining and developing approaches and solutions.​


Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelors degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).​ 
  • Experience in mechani­cal, electrical, or systems design, engineering, and analysis.​
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Experience may be obtained through on‑the‑job experience, research, coursework, or projects


Qualifications We Prefer :

  • Preferred majors: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related STEM discipline.​
  • Experience in mechani­cal, electrical, or systems design, engineering, and analysis.​
  • Experience in manufac­turing methods and pro­cesses, including ma­chining, casting, forging, welding, and bonding.​
  • Experience in mechani­cal drawing practices, dimensioning, and tolerancing.​     3.5+ GPA, internship or co-op, and/or hands-on experience with club/team (i.e. baja/formula racing, robotics, rocketry, EV, RC/UAV, etc)​

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
