Job description

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, and optimization of electrical systems used in industrial pump products and operations. This role will work closely with engineering and production teams to develop reliable electrical control systems, improve product performance, and ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support electrical systems for industrial pump products and related equipment.

  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, and technical documentation using AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical preferred).

  • Design and support electrical control panels used for pump operation, including start/stop controls, motor protection, and system monitoring.

  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers, manufacturing teams, and production personnel to ensure successful system integration.

  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, control panels, motors, and related components during manufacturing, testing, and field support activities.

  • Assist with motor controls, variable frequency drives (VFDs), PLC integration, and system optimization projects.

  • Perform testing, validation, and performance analysis of electrical systems.

  • Ensure all designs comply with UL, NEC, and applicable industry standards and safety requirements.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product functionality, reliability, and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant electrical engineering experience (internship experience may be considered).

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD; AutoCAD Electrical experience is highly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of power distribution, industrial control systems, motor controls, and electrical troubleshooting.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Must-Have Skills & Experience

  • Experience designing, troubleshooting, or supporting electrical control panels used for industrial pump systems or similar industrial equipment.

  • Hands-on knowledge of motor starters, control relays, overload protection, disconnects, and pump control circuits.

  • Experience reading and creating electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.

  • Familiarity with electrical control systems used for the on/off operation, monitoring, and protection of industrial pumps.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial equipment, water/wastewater, pumping, or process-control environment.

  • Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and compliance requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting.

  • Experience with VFDs, motor control centers (MCCs), and industrial automation systems.

  • Familiarity with UL 508A, NEC, and other industrial electrical standards.

  • Experience with industrial pumps, fluid handling systems, water/wastewater equipment, or related industries.

  • Hands-on experience testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting electrical systems in a manufacturing environment.
