Job description

SmartLam is one of North America's leaders in the Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) & Glulam Industry. We are looking for an experienced Quality Control Manager.

Summary Description

The Quality Control Manager is accountable for preparing and testing all quality samples in accordance with standards and procedures. The Quality Control Manager must always stay in communication with all levels of management related to the quality of the product. This is a physically demanding job and requires the ability to lift 50 pounds, kneel, squat, sit, and stand repetitiously for the entire shift.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Train technician on how to properly prepare, test, and record all samples.
  • Maintain organized records of all PCC’s and QC test results – both paper and digital.
  • Monitor all controlling standards for facility products, i.e., ANSI A190.1, PRG-320, WWPA 101.15
  • Revise the Quality Control Manuals and documentation forms, when necessary, i.e., when standards get updated.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis regarding testing or other product failures.
  • Monitor all Production Control Checks for accuracy and to spot issues immediately.
  • Monitor adhesive levels and advise to order more when necessary.
  • Monitor all Certificates of Analysis for all adhesive products.
  • Monitor expiry dates on all adhesive products.
  • Must be very safety oriented and comply with all company and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Organize all necessary documents for monthly Audits.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering preferred or minimum of 3-year experience within Product Material Management. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in basic math skills.
  • Proficient in use of basic tools and measuring devices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • High attention to detail and organization.
  • Creative problem solver.
  • Positive attitude with a track record of delivering results.
  • Self-motivated with strong ability to multitask and operate with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of lifting at least 50 pounds, kneeling, squatting, and standing repetitiously.

  • Previous experience in quality control or assurance
