We are seeking a Data Profiling Specialist to support a state agency modernization effort focused on strengthening data quality, readiness, and reporting foundations. This role will work across business and technical teams to evaluate data sources, assess data quality, and support preparation for system modernization and replacement initiatives. This role is part of a rapidly expanding State Health practice focused on helping agencies modernize how they use data to support critical programs.

Through this effort, you will directly contribute to a state agency’s modernization journey by strengthening its data foundation. You will play a key role in helping the agency understand its data landscape and prepare for the transition to platforms that better support decision-making, reporting, and improved outcomes for children and families.

What You Will Do:

  • Evaluate and analyze data from legacy systems and disparate sources to assess quality, completeness, and consistency
  • Develop and apply practical approaches to profile complex datasets, including structured and semi-structured data
  • Identify data gaps, anomalies, and structural issues that may impact reporting, analytics, or system migration
  • Recommend data quality improvements and remediation actions that are aligned to both current-state use and future-state system needs
  • Support data readiness efforts for modernization and system replacement, including migration considerations
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to validate findings and align on data priorities and remediation strategies
  • Document data issues, patterns, and recommendations in a clear, actionable format
  • Partner with program and technical teams to improve data usability for reporting and analytics

What You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university
  • Based on our contractual obligations, candidate must be located within the United States and US Citizen
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal public trust
  • 2 + years of experience in data profiling, data analysis, or data quality assessment
  • Prior experience in child welfare, human services, or related social programs (state agency, consulting, or nonprofit)
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and data analysis for querying, analyzing, and profiling data across complex, multi-system environments
  • Experience identifying data quality issues and recommending remediation actions
  • Experience supporting data preparation for analytics, reporting, or system modernization efforts
  • Ability to clearly communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Familiarity with system modernization or data migration readiness efforts
  • 10% travel may be required during key client deliverable milestones

What Would Be Nice To Have:

  • Experience with data profiling and data quality tools such as Informatica Data Quality, Talend, Collibra Data Quality, or similar platforms and technologies
  • Advanced experience with data preparation and transformation techniques to support reporting, analytics, and modernization readiness
  • Familiarity with data modeling concepts and data structures to evaluate how data can be used in current and future-state systems
  • Experience supporting enterprise and/or programmatic data governance or data standardization efforts
  • Familiarity with CCWIS or large human services system environments
The annual salary range for this position is $102,000.00-$170,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
