Job description

Job Brief

The Buyer - Electronic Components is responsible for the procurement of electronic sub-components/raw materials required to support customer service goals, minimize the total landed cost of material, and optimize the company's cash flow.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for development of Electronic Components sourcing strategies
  • Assist in development of Master Service Agreements
  • Proactively identifies and takes appropriate corrective actions to alleviate component shortages for downstream suppliers.
  • Prepares and presents recommendations of improvement opportunities and alternative courses of action to purchasing leaders.
  • Consistently applies purchasing policies, procedures and processes.
  • Lead negotiations and minimize the purchase price variance (PPV).
  • Works to eliminate excess and obsolete parts and rationalize similar parts.
  • Participates in Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events that will eliminate waste and result in significant benefits (Growth, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) throughout the Supply Chain.
  • Strong knowledge and ability to interpret electrical schematics for product sourcing
  • Skilled in Product Life Cycle Management with proficiency in managing New Product Supply Chain setup and Product Obsolescence
  • Ability to interface well with Engineering, Product Management, Quality Assurance and Production teams.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft office suite software.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of related experience in Electronics components sourcing.
  • Must have knowledge/proven background in the Electronic Component Distribution Industry.
  • Relationships with Electronics Distributors and Manufacturers that can be leveraged to support problem escalations and program development are highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of the Electronics Market, Component types and how they are manufactured is desirable.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and ability to develop win-win solutions.
  • Direct experience implementing lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • BS/BA preferably in Supply Chain Management, Business or Engineering is highly desirable.
  • CPIM, CSCP, Lean Manufacturing and Six-Sigma Green Belt certifications are highly desirable.
