Contractual Contingent Workforce Management information

What is contractual contingent workforce management?

Contractual Contingent Workforce Management refers to the process of overseeing and coordinating temporary staff who are hired on a contract basis rather than as permanent employees. This includes managing relationships with staffing agencies, ensuring compliance with labor laws, handling onboarding and offboarding, and tracking performance. The goal is to efficiently utilize external talent to meet business needs while controlling costs and minimizing risks. Effective management of a contingent workforce can provide organizations with flexibility and specialized skills for specific projects or peak periods.

What are some common challenges faced in contractual contingent workforce management, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in Contractual Contingent Workforce Management often face challenges such as ensuring compliance with labor regulations, managing effective onboarding and integration of contingent workers, and maintaining clear communication between multiple stakeholders. These challenges can be addressed by developing strong vendor management processes, utilizing workforce management software to track compliance and performance, and establishing standardized onboarding procedures. Additionally, fostering open communication between HR, hiring managers, and external staffing agencies helps ensure smooth operations and minimizes misunderstandings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in contractual contingent workforce management, and why are they important?

To thrive in Contractual Contingent Workforce Management, you need expertise in workforce planning, vendor management, and knowledge of labor laws, often supported by a degree in human resources or business administration. Familiarity with Vendor Management Systems (VMS), HRIS platforms, and relevant certifications such as Certified Contingent Workforce Professional (CCWP) are highly valuable. Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills are essential for coordinating with suppliers and managing dynamic workforce needs. These competencies ensure efficient contingent labor utilization, compliance, and effective alignment with organizational goals.

Job description

Title: Field Merchandiser

Location: Denver Metro Area, CO (Prefer candidates in Arapahoe or Douglas County)
Pay Rate: $21–$24/hour + $250 bonus after 2 months
Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Start Date: ASAP
Assignment Length: No set end date at this time
Work Type: 100% field-based; daily travel throughout assigned territory

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an energetic, reliable Field Merchandiser to represent a rapidly growing better-for-you beverage brand across retail locations throughout the Denver market.

This is a highly active, hands-on position for someone who enjoys being out in the field rather than sitting behind a desk. You’ll have an assigned territory and route and may visit up to 10 retail locations per day, including grocery stores, convenience stores, and other retailers.

Your job is to make sure the brand looks its best everywhere you go.

You’ll check inventory, stock and rotate products, maintain displays, identify out-of-stock situations, work with store teams to resolve merchandising issues, and document your execution. You’ll have significant independence throughout your day while remaining connected to the broader field team.

What You’ll Do

  • Visit up to 10 assigned retail locations per day following established routes and priorities.
  • Execute daily merchandising activities according to established brand and “Look of Success” standards.
  • Stock, rotate, face, and organize beverage products to keep shelves full and visually appealing.
  • Check backstock and work with store personnel to get available inventory onto the sales floor.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify out-of-stock or low-stock situations.
  • Build and maintain mandated and incremental in-store displays.
  • Ensure product placement and displays meet brand and retailer standards.
  • Look for opportunities to improve product visibility, placement, and overall in-store execution.
  • Develop positive working relationships with store managers, department leaders, and employees.
  • Take photos and accurately document store visits, execution metrics, inventory concerns, and account insights.
  • Complete required reporting and CRM updates.
  • Communicate inventory issues, merchandising needs, and opportunities to the internal team.
  • Maintain merchandising assets and collaborate with field sales partners to ensure consistent brand representation.

What Success Looks Like

  • Keeping products stocked, properly rotated, and well presented.
  • Reducing out-of-stock situations.
  • Consistently meeting merchandising and display standards.
  • Building productive relationships with store teams.
  • Identifying and resolving merchandising issues rather than simply reporting them.
  • Completing accurate and timely store-visit documentation.
  • Managing your route efficiently and independently.
  • Representing the brand with professionalism, energy, and enthusiasm.

What You Bring

  • 1+ year of merchandising, retail, field sales, grocery, or CPG experience.
  • Beverage, food, distributor, or route-merchandising experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with large-format grocery retailers, convenience stores, or natural-channel retailers is a plus.
  • Comfortable performing hands-on merchandising, including stocking, rotating products, maintaining displays, and working with backstock.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and confidence communicating with store managers and employees.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a busy daily route.
  • Comfortable using mobile technology to document visits and complete reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Reliable, insured personal vehicle for daily travel.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the assigned Denver-area territory.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., bend, reach, stand for extended periods, and remain active throughout the workday.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.

Bonus Points

  • Previous beverage merchandising experience.
  • Experience servicing multiple retail locations in a single day.
  • Experience with grocery retailers and/or convenience-store accounts.
  • Experience working with planograms, schematics, product rotation, FIFO, backstock, and display execution.
  • Experience with Slack, Repsly, CRM platforms, or similar reporting tools.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for emerging consumer brands and the better-for-you beverage category.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • No set end date at this time, providing more opportunity than a short-term year-end assignment.
  • Join a fast-growing beverage brand with significant retail momentum.
  • Get out from behind a desk and spend your day working independently in the field.
  • Take ownership of an assigned territory and see the impact of your work every day.
  • Build valuable experience within the growing CPG and beverage industry.
  • Receive mileage reimbursement for qualifying travel using your personal vehicle.
  • Earn a $250 bonus after 2 months.
