We partner with premier government R&D agencies such as DARPA, IARPA, ARPA-H, DHA, AFRL, Army C5ISR, NOAA, and other branches of the US Government on a range of efforts, including prime contracts, SBIRs, and STTRs. In addition, we provide commercial services to companies ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies. Kitware employs an open source business model to foster extended, collaborative communities and to provide effective, flexible, and high-quality technical solutions.
In This Position You Will:
  • Develop computational and mathematical models of the human body and human physiology.
  • Create patient-specific models using medical imaging data (CT, MRI, ultrasound, microscopy, etc.).
  • Design and implement biomechanical, physiological, or multi-physics simulations.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate models into research software and production applications.
  • Validate models using experimental or clinical data.
  • Work directly with clinicians, researchers, and sponsors to understand technical requirements.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences.
  • Contribute to Kitware's open source software ecosystem.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree + 2 years of experience or PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computational Biology, Applied Mathematics, Bioengineering, or a related field.
  • Experience developing computational or mathematical models of the human body.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ or Python (C++ preferred).
  • Experience with scientific computing and numerical methods.
  • Familiarity with medical imaging and image processing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary research teams.
  • Due to contractual requirements, only U.S. citizens will be considered for this position.
  • If not already cleared TS/SCI, willingness and ability to apply for and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with the Pulse Physiology Engine.
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Biomechanics.
  • Computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
  • Cardiovascular modeling.
  • Digital twins.
  • Multiscale modeling.
  • Medical image segmentation and registration.
  • AI or machine learning applied to biomedical data.
