Job description

Job Title: Quality Control Engineer (Building Envelope)Job Description

The Quality Control Engineer (Building Envelope) is responsible for ensuring that all civil construction activities are executed in full compliance with project specifications, engineering standards, and applicable codes. This onsite role oversees inspection processes, prepares and maintains quality documentation, verifies construction workmanship, and collaborates closely with contractors and project teams to ensure adherence to project-specific quality plans and international standards such as ASTM, ACI, ISO 9001, and other QA/QC requirements. The position plays a key role in delivering a fully compliant project within a large-scale expansion program.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and execute the project-specific QA/QC Plan, including defined scopes of work and detailed work procedures.
  • Develop and implement engineering procedures covering document control, submissions management, creation and tracking of Requests for Information (RFIs), material sample reviews, and documentation and tracking of potential cost changes and approved change orders within budgetary guidelines.
  • Coordinate and implement the project-specific QA/QC Plan in alignment with the project safety plan to support safe and compliant construction activities.
  • Ensure strict adherence to ethics and compliance requirements in all project-related activities and decisions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure the QA/QC Plan delivers a fully compliant project.
  • Understand the overall project execution plan and coordinate quality control procedures at appropriate stages of the work in line with the project schedule.
  • Continually improve strategies, tools, and processes to efficiently and effectively document, track, and record compliance with contract documents.
  • Execute the QA/QC Plan in a manner that engages all project staff, subcontractors, vendors, and consultants in achieving quality objectives.
  • Conduct testing and inspections on construction activities and materials, arrange for third-party testing and inspections when required, and analyze and report test results.
  • Expand and refine the QA/QC Plan as the project progresses by continually improving and updating procedures to meet evolving project needs.
  • Oversee the development and accuracy of Daily Construction Reports (DCRs) to ensure proper documentation of site activities and quality-related observations.
  • Oversee the development and completion of punch lists to identify, track, and resolve outstanding quality issues.
  • Direct the removal and replacement of non-compliant materials and workmanship, ensuring all corrective actions are properly documented and verified before subsequent work begins.
  • Research, recommend, and apply additional quality control and Lean procedures to enhance the quality and efficiency of project delivery.
  • Oversee project close-out processes and prepare comprehensive quality reports summarizing compliance, testing, and corrective actions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall project quality and successful delivery.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 5 years of QA/QC construction quality experience, preferably with a general contractor.
  • At least 3 years of concrete flightline experience.
  • Proven experience working with FAA standards.
  • Proven experience working with ACI 304 standards.
  • Proven experience working with ACI 501 standards.
  • Strong background in building envelope quality control and inspection.
  • Hands-on experience with interior QA/QC in construction projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in construction quality assurance and quality control inspection.
  • Ability to develop and manage project-specific QA/QC Plans and procedures.
  • Experience coordinating and documenting third-party testing and inspections.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret test results and assess compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Ability to manage RFIs, submittals, material samples, and change order documentation within budgetary guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with project stakeholders, including owners, architects, consultants, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct and compliance with regulatory and project requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Additional quality control certifications relevant to construction QA/QC are preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale expansion or aviation-related construction projects is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other international quality standards.
  • Knowledge of Lean construction principles and methods to improve quality and efficiency.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple quality-related tasks and documentation streams.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving quality issues.
  • Ability to adapt QA/QC procedures as the project evolves and new requirements emerge.
Work Environment

This role is based in an onsite construction environment within a major expansion project. The work setting involves active civil construction activities, coordination with multiple stakeholders, and regular presence on the job site to conduct inspections, oversee testing, and verify workmanship. The position supports a large-scale, high-profile project, offering exposure to complex building envelope and concrete flightline work as well as collaboration with diverse teams and specialists.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
