What is a contracts associate?

Contracts Associates are professionals who assist in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and managing contracts for organizations. They work closely with legal teams, procurement departments, and business units to ensure that contracts comply with legal requirements and company policies. Their responsibilities may also include maintaining contract databases, monitoring contract performance, and supporting contract renewal or termination processes. Contracts Associates play a key role in minimizing risk and ensuring smooth business operations.

What are some typical challenges a contracts associate might face when managing multiple agreements simultaneously?

Contracts Associates often handle several contracts at once, which can present challenges such as tracking deadlines, ensuring compliance with various terms, and maintaining clear communication among all parties involved. Effective organization and attention to detail are crucial to avoid errors or missed obligations. Utilizing contract management software and collaborating closely with legal, procurement, and business teams can help streamline processes and reduce risks associated with overlapping timelines or requirements.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a contracts associate, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Contracts Associate, you need a solid understanding of contract law, attention to detail, and a relevant degree such as in law, business, or a related field. Familiarity with contract management systems, document drafting software, and sometimes certifications such as Certified Commercial Contracts Manager (CCCM) are commonly required. Excellent organizational skills, negotiation abilities, and clear communication help you effectively manage workflows and build strong stakeholder relationships. These skills ensure contracts are accurately drafted, compliant, and serve the best interests of the organization.

Job description

Libra Solutions helps simplify and ease the burden of legal processes for plaintiffs, heirs, and the attorneys and doctors who serve them. By combining financial strength with technology-driven innovation, we simplify difficult legal processes, reduce delays, and help people access both money and the care they need, when they need it most. Our companies are leaders in their industries! MoveDocs streamlines the coordination of medical, financial, and professional services for personal injury cases-improving efficiency for attorneys, care providers, and their clients. Oasis Financial is the largest and most recognized plaintiff funding brand in the nation, having helped 400,000+ plaintiffs access more than $2 billion in funding while their personal injury cases progress. And through Probate Advance, we enable heirs to access their inheritance without waiting through the lengthy probate process.
Together, under the Libra Solutions banner, we support a nationwide network of more than 45,000 attorneys and 10,000 healthcare providers - creating a powerful platform to deliver faster, more seamless outcomes for our customers.
MoveDocs is seeking a full-time In-House Corporate Contract Attorney to support our growing business. This role will lead drafting, review, and negotiation of agreements central to how we operate-especially payer/provider arrangements, MSO-structured relationships, and HIPAA/BAA-driven contracts.
The ideal candidate brings strong healthcare commercial contracting judgment, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and can translate complex regulatory and deal issues into practical, business-forward guidance.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, with emphasis on:
    • Payer/provider agreements and related reimbursement/value-based arrangements
    • MSO-structured relationships (management services agreements, clinical alignment models, PC-MSO structures, and supporting schedules/SOWs)
    • Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) and other HIPAA-regulated data-sharing or services contracts
  • Partner closely with operations, provider relations, compliance, finance, and leadership to structure deals that advance our mission while managing risk in a regulated environment.
  • Provide clear, timely guidance on contract interpretation, risk allocation, obligations, and dispute prevention.
  • Support development of contract templates, playbooks, and workflow improvements to drive scale and consistency.
  • Advise on healthcare regulatory considerations tied to contracting (e.g., HIPAA, Stark/AKS, Medicare/Medicaid, state licensing and payor rules), in collaboration with compliance and leadership.

Requirements
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing
  • 4+ years of relevant legal experience in healthcare law and/or corporate/commercial contracting (in-house or law firm).
  • Proven ability to independently draft and negotiate complex contracts end-to-end
  • Strong command of core contracting terms (indemnification, limitation of liability, regulatory reps/warranties, termination, data use)
  • Excellent communicator who can explain legal concepts clearly to non-lawyers and push deals forward
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Direct experience with payer/provider contracting
    • Familiarity with MSO and PC-MSO contracting structures
    • Meaningful experience drafting and negotiating BAAs and HIPAA-related agreements
    • Background supporting multi-state medical providers or healthcare services platforms
    • Ability to work effectively with teams in Las Vegas and/or Charlotte time zones

Benefits
We believe taking great care of our customers starts with taking great care of our people. That's why we offer competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including a choice of multiple medical plans, dental, vision, and life insurance, a 401(k) with generous company match, flexible spending accounts for medical and dependent expenses, and time off to recharge.
