Job description

Pipefitter Helper
Basic Scope/Purpose
Assists Pipefitter to assemble and install piping for air, ammonia, gas, and water systems.
Essential Functions/Duties
โ€ข Cut or drill holes in walls to permit passage of pipes.
โ€ข Select specified type and size of pipe.
โ€ข Mount pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hold pipe.
โ€ข Assist Pipefitter to install valves, coupling, and other fittings.
โ€ข May disassemble and remove damaged pipe.
โ€ข Load, transport, unload, and furnish experienced craft worker with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
โ€ข Clean work area and restocks supplies and materials as necessary.
โ€ข Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
โ€ข Perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
โ€ข Perform other duties as directed by experienced craft person.
โ€ข Repeat tasks of short duration according to a set procedure.
โ€ข Detect, recognize and respond to dangerous conditions or situations.
โ€ข Regular attendance is required.
โ€ข Significant travel may be required.
โ€ข Performs other duties as required.
Working Conditions/Physical Effort
Conditions include working in office, shop, busy traffic areas, warehouses, and undeveloped properties, with frequent exposure to dirt, dust, grease, oil, vibrations, and adverse weather conditions. Must be able to safely access all areas of property, buildings, structures, wharves, rooftops and other elevated positions, as well as, confined spaces. Must be able to effectively use all required PPE equipment and lift up to fifty pounds. Strenuous physical demands are required to safely perform the essential functions associated with this position. Must be able to safely operate all involved equipment and tools. Must be capable of standing for long periods of time, bending consistently, working in confined spaces with limited access, on ladders, in personnel lifts, in workboats, and working in awkward body positions.
