Job description

Bartlett Cocke General Contractors in Austin, TX is currently seeking a Full-Time Carpenter Helper to join our team! The Carpenter Helper assists the carpenters on the construction site. This role assists with tasks such as repairing, constructing, or dismantling wooden/metal/concrete objects on construction jobsites. The position must be able to identify a variety of hand tools, power tools and equipment. This position will also keep work areas clean when needed and prepare material and sites for the work activity.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Assists the carpenter with carpentry duties to include but not limited to building forms, chutes, rails, stairs, and other structures as required.
  • Maintains a clean jobsite, picks up all tools and equipment and secures tools on job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
  • Performs material handling and storage.
  • Loads and unloads material from trucks, manually hauls and/or hoists materials.
  • Establish the punch list process and close-out procedures with the Project Manager, Owner, and Architect.
  • Ensures that work is performed in a safe manner.
  • Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
  • Reports problems to the attention of the Foreman, Superintendent, or Safety Manager.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must have good eyesight.
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work at heights and on roofs.
  • Must possess the aptitude, interest, and ability to operate machinery.
  • Will be required to wear PPE to include hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest, gloves, and work boots.
