RN - Infection Preventionist
Glendale, Arizona is a city with a diverse history that is treasured not only by its residents and community members, but also by the visitors who come and experience the roots of the city. Glendale is located 9 miles northwest from downtown Phoenix and is home to the University of Phoenix Stadium for the Arizona Cardinals, Gila River Arena for NHL Arizona Coyotes and Camelback Ranch which house spring training for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox.
Luke Air Force Base is located 7 miles west of Glendale and 15 miles west of Phoenix. Luke AFB is a major training base of the Air Education and Training Command (AETC), training pilots in the F-16 Fighting Falcon. In addition to flying and maintaining the F-16, Luke airmen also deploy to support on-going operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and to combatant commanders in other locations around the world.
Requirements (Duties Include But Are Not Limited To)
- Implement the Infection Prevention and Control Program (IPCP).
- Perform an annual self-inspection to determine if there is sufficient evidence of facility's compliance or noncompliance with regulatory standards below. Provides assessment of IPC program to the Infection Prevention and Control Function (IPCF) Chair and shares with IPCF at quarterly meetings.
- Guides the MTF on IPC-related accreditation preparation activities and regulatory readiness. Formulates corrective actions IAW current standards and guidelines.
- Develops the annual Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA); prioritizes according to the level of probability and potential for harm. Coordinates ICRA development with other team members, including the IPCF Chair, IPCF members, Public Health (PH) and others as needed.
- Develops and coordinates the annual Infection Prevention and Control Program Plan (IPCPP) based upon the approved ICRA prioritized list. Updates the IPCPP as needed throughout the year.
- Develops and coordinates the IPCP Annual Summary that describes all activities in the IPCPP. The summary shall include a general discussion, actions taken and resolution. Unresolved items must be carried over to the next IPCP Annual Summary. All program documents shall be accomplished in a timely manner; clear suspenses for the completion of each document IPCPP—shall be signed by the Commander or designee and shall be in place 30 days following the close out of the reporting year.
- Plans and develops the IPCF agenda with the IPCF Chair based on activities outlined in the IPCPP; standard agenda items are included at least quarterly. Completes and files meeting minutes per MTF policy.
- Contractor employees shall maintain active memberships in the following groups: Safety or Environment of Care Committee, Product Evaluation Committee, Patient Safety Committee, Space Utilization Committee, Medical Readiness Staff Function, Nursing Executive Function, and Executive Committee of the Medical Staff (ECOMS).
- Performs IPC-related surveillance as defined by the annual ICRA and IPCPP as approved by MTF senior leadership (e.g. ECOMS). Assists in reviewing and revising IPC relevant MTF Operating Instructions (OIs) as required. Shares surveillance activities and findings with the IPC Chair, IPC Function and other related stakeholders, as applicable.

Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited school.
- A current, unrestricted license to practice Nursing in any one of the fifty States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
- Have at least three (3) years within the past four (4) years of current experience in infection prevention and control.
- Have and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as approved by the American Heart Association (AHA).
