Job description

We anticipate the need to hire one or more Temporary Unified Gas Helper(s) to be located at the White Bear Service Center, Rice Street Service Center, and the Newport Service Center all located within Minnesota. The starting rate of pay for this position is $29.48/hour. This position will be posted for 10 working days from May 18, 2026, through June 1, 2026.
The anticipated start date for this position will be in June and could potentially extend for the remainder of 2026.
Summary
This position can assist in a variety of job function within Gas Operations. Work ranges from performing leak survey of our gas system to performing maintenance, installation and repair of our gas facilities. These positions work with regulation, metering, odorization, customer piping and below and above ground piping.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED obtained prior to start date.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to lift up to 90 pounds.
  • Applicant is required to successfully pass the Xcel Energy screening requirements, which include a drug test and security clearance.

Preferred Requirements:
  • Previous construction or mechanical work experience.
  • CDL License.
