Job description

PROJECT COORDINATOR - FLOORING

Location: Houston, TX (on-site) | Company: Gulf Coast Flooring & Services | Employment Type: Full-Time

What this job is

Gulf Coast Flooring & Services is hiring a Project Coordinator to keep our commercial flooring jobs supplied, scheduled and documented. This is the person who knows what material is going where, whether it is on the floor yet, and what is going to hold the crew up on Tuesday.

It is a materials and coordination role. You will work behind the Project Managers and Superintendents, confirming products and quantities, chasing lead times, staging deliveries with the warehouse, tracking submittals and change orders, and making sure nothing reaches the field half-ready.

What this job is not

You will not be running projects, carrying a budget or managing clients. Those belong to the Project Manager. If you are looking for a PM seat on day one, this is not it, though people who are excellent here have moved up.

What you will actually do

  • Confirm materials before a job is released: product, color, quantity, dye lot, adhesives, underlayment, transitions, trim and sundries.
  • Chase lead times and stock, and flag a shortage before it becomes a stopped crew.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse so material is staged, loaded and delivered ahead of the install date.
  • Prepare and track submittals, work orders and change orders for flooring scopes.
  • Keep project files clean: cut sheets, installation specs, moisture test results and warranty documentation.
  • Keep the project system current so estimators, superintendents and PMs are all looking at the same truth.
  • Sit in internal project meetings, capture what was decided, and follow up until it is done.

What we are actually looking for

Above everything: you know flooring materials. You can tell LVP from LVT, know why carpet tile and broadloom are ordered differently, know what a moisture test result means for an adhesive choice, and know that a substrate problem found on Monday is cheap while the same problem found on Thursday is not.

You do not need a degree, a PMP, or scheduling software. You need to know the products, be relentless about detail, and follow through without being chased.

Backgrounds that work here

  • Flooring installer, helper or lead ready to come off the tools.
  • Flooring warehouse, dispatch or logistics.
  • Flooring retail, showroom or design-center sales, whether Floor & Decor, a supplier or a dealer.
  • Flooring supplier inside sales, customer service or order desk.
  • Estimating or takeoff support at a flooring contractor.
  • Coordination or administration at a commercial interiors, finish-trade or general contractor, provided you know the materials.

Also useful

  • Bilingual English and Spanish is a real advantage with our crews.
  • Comfortable in Excel, Word and Outlook, and quick to pick up a project system.
  • Steady under a busy day. This job is a lot of small things done accurately, not a few big things done heroically.

Why join us

  • Competitive pay based on experience.
  • A specialized, trade-focused team where knowing the product is respected, not assumed.
  • Room to move up into project management for people who earn it.
  • A stable, collaborative crew and recognition for consistent work.
