Job Description
This of Full Charge Bookkeeper oversees the full Accounting Department and ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial information in accordance with GAAP. Responsibilities include directing the accounting system, supervising AP/AR functions, managing payroll and tax reporting, overseeing budgeting and financial controls, coordinating with external CPA partners, and supporting leadership with financial analysis and strategic planning. The position currently operates part-time, with the potential to grow into full-time for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coordinate, and maintain the accounting system to accurately reflect the company’s financial position.
- Oversee internal and external financial reporting, budgeting, general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, fixed assets, and tax compliance.
- Develop and implement accounting strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with company objectives.
- Supervise accounting staff (AP/AR roles once filled) and ensure strong internal controls.
- Manage daily accounting operations, including payroll, tax filings, inventory reporting, financial analyses, and credit evaluations.
- Collaborate with leadership and other departments to ensure consistent communication, alignment, and compliance.
- Maintain and enhance accounting systems, including HR/payroll, fixed assets, expense management, and cash management.
- Support the organization with clear financial insights, reporting accuracy, and process improvements.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in business, Finance, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 7 years of accounting experience in a service?based environment.
- CPA not required.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills; advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and web applications.
- Experience with financial management systems; MAS/Sage 100 strongly preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and maintain a positive, focused attitude.
- Comfortable with a flexible schedule and mostly remote work.
- Ability to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally and manage stressful, deadline?driven situations.
Essential Duties
- Prepare daily, monthly, annual financial statements and ensure timely external filings with CPA support.
- Manage tax reporting requirements, payroll taxes, fringe benefit reporting, and coordination with external CPAs.
- Oversee AP/AR operations, including invoice validation, posting, vendor communication, invoicing, collections, and job?related data entry.
- Maintain strong internal controls and continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes.
- Perform payroll operations, inventory reporting, financial analyses, and credit evaluations.
- Coordinate accounting functions with other departments and support system improvements with IT.
- Ensure employees understand accounting policies and procedures; participate in leadership meetings as needed.
