What is a contracted direct care worker?

Contracted Direct Care Workers are professionals hired, often through an agency or on a contract basis, to provide support and assistance to individuals who need help with daily living activities. They typically work with elderly adults, people with disabilities, or those recovering from illness or injury in homes, group residences, or care facilities. Their responsibilities can include personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, and companionship. Unlike regular employees, contracted direct care workers may have more flexible schedules and can work with multiple clients or agencies. Their main goal is to help clients maintain independence and quality of life.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as a contracted direct care worker?

To thrive as a Contracted Direct Care Worker, you need a basic understanding of personal care, safety procedures, and relevant health protocols, often supported by a high school diploma or equivalent and, in some regions, relevant certifications like CPR or First Aid.
