Primary Responsibility
Substitute teachers play an essential role in supporting our students' academic success. At West Irondequoit, substitutes ensure high quality instruction and social-emotional support in the absence of a full-time teacher.
Job Requirements
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective problem-solving skills to deal with day-to-day classroom challenges
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to understand and follow district policies and procedures
  • Adherence to the West Irondequoit Central School District Code of Conduct
  • Fingerprint clearance from the New York State Department of Education
  • Must meet educational qualifications as specified by the NYS Department of Education in the link above
Job Description
  • Maintain student confidentiality regarding students in accordance with district policies and regulations
  • Follow and implement documented lesson plans effectively
  • Assist with arrival, dismissal, and other duties as assigned by school administration
 
  • Enforce classroom management techniques to maintain a productive learning environment
  • Interact with students and staff in a respectful and professional manner
