VPU Context:

WBG Budget and Procurement supports the World Bank Group’s strategic priorities by providing budget, planning, procurement, systems, reporting, analytics, and shared services across the institution. The WBG Centers of Excellence department brings together core budget functions to build a more integrated, data-driven, and client-focused budget function. The department supports One WBG integration, budget reforms, modernized systems, automation, and stronger decision support for senior management and client teams.

Unit Context:

The Budget Solutions unit leads WBG-wide budget systems, data, reporting, knowledge, and technology-enabled solutions. The unit supports the Integrated Planning Solution, ERP transition, budget reporting, analytics, automation, and client-facing digital products. The Systems, Data and Reporting team will help strengthen data governance, reporting quality, self-service analytics, process automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve decision-making and service delivery across WBP and its clients.

Duties and accountabilities:
  • Lead the design and delivery of data products, analytical models, dashboards, mobile applications, and AI-enabled solutions that support WBP priorities and improve decision-making.
  • Advise business stakeholders on data-driven opportunities, translate business needs into analytical solutions, and shape practical approaches that connect technical capability with business strategy.
  • Own the development, deployment, validation, and continuous improvement of predictive models, machine learning pipelines, reporting solutions, and data products in partnership with IT and business teams.
  • Define and standardize WBP data components, measures, methodologies, and reporting approaches across systems including A/O, S/4, cloud platforms, and related budget data environments.
  • Establish and maintain a consolidated data layer or data mesh for WBP analytics, strengthening data quality, governance, controls, and consistency across reporting platforms.
  • Provide technical guidance to analysts or junior colleagues, review outputs for quality and usability, and support the adoption of self-service analytics and data storytelling practices.
Selection Criteria
  • Master’s degree in information systems, data science, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, finance, business analytics, or a related field, with at 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python or R, with demonstrated ability to design scalable analytical solutions, models, and data pipelines.
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical analysis, predictive modeling, machine learning techniques, model validation, and performance monitoring.
  • Proven experience leading the design of dashboards, reporting solutions, mobile applications, or AI-enabled data products with a strong user-centered and business-impact focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to define data standards, strengthen data governance, improve reporting quality, and standardize measures across complex systems and platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, storytelling, advisory, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to bridge technical data analysis and business strategy.
  • Experience in financial planning, reporting, budget analytics, performance management, or large/complex organizations is highly desirable.
