Job description

Wire the Future of Connectivity — Join XS Telecom’s Skilled Team

At XS Telecom, we do more than design and support technology—we connect people, businesses, and communities. With decades of industry expertise and partnerships with communications leaders, our experienced technicians deliver customized network solutions built for today and tomorrow. We are searching for a Colocation Project Manager to join the team.

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of data center colocation deployments and structured cabling infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for managing large-scale fiber and copper installations within live and new data center environments, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and within budget.

The ideal candidate has experience working within Data Centers or mission-critical facilities, understands data center infrastructure, and can effectively coordinate between customers, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams to deliver complex deployments.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead multiple large-scale copper and fiber infrastructure projects from pre-construction through closeout.
  • Define project scope, budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
  • Manage project documentation including RFIs, change orders, submittals, and installation reports.
  • Oversee installation, testing, commissioning, and final turnover of structured cabling and infrastructure deployments.
  • Ensure compliance with BICSI, EIA/TIA, and data center operational standards.
  • Coordinate installation activities including:
    • Structured cabling systems (copper & fiber)
    • Fiber backbone infrastructure
    • Rack and containment deployments
    • Network and colocation equipment installations
  • Produce complete project closeout documentation, including as-builts, test results, and turnover packages.
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture across all project activities.

Financial & Operational Oversight

  • Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
  • Monitor job cost performance and drive margin improvement.
  • Negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
  • Oversee material procurement, subcontractor performance, and resource allocation.
  • Identify potential project risks early and implement mitigation strategies.

Client Relationship & Business Development

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for colocation customers and stakeholders during project execution.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with data center operators, general contractors, electrical contractors, and end users.
  • Participate in client meetings, site walk-throughs, and proposal presentations.
  • Identify opportunities for additional project scope or new work within existing accounts.
  • Develop scopes, estimates, and proposals for new colocation deployments and infrastructure projects.
  • Support regional growth initiatives and strategic expansion within the data center market.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of project management experience in data centers, mission-critical environments, or structured cabling infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of fiber and copper structured cabling systems.
  • Experience working in live data center environments.
  • Familiarity with data center standards and best practices (BICSI, TIA/EIA).
  • Proven experience managing large-scale infrastructure deployments and installation teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing colocation deployments (customer cage builds, rack installs, fiber turn-ups).
  • Familiarity with DCIM, BMS, or EPMS systems.
  • BICSI certification (RCDD preferred).
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management training.
