Contract Telecom Oss information

What are some common challenges faced by Contract Telecom OSS professionals, and how can they be addressed?

Contract Telecom OSS professionals often encounter challenges such as rapidly changing project requirements, integrating new technologies with legacy systems, and coordinating with multiple teams across different functions. Staying adaptable and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders are essential strategies to manage these challenges. Additionally, building strong technical documentation and proactively identifying potential integration issues can help ensure smoother project delivery and positive client relationships.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Contract Telecom OSS (Operations Support Systems) professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Contract Telecom OSS professional, you need expertise in telecom network architecture, OSS/BSS systems, and strong analytical skills, typically supported by a relevant degree in telecommunications, computer science, or engineering. Familiarity with tools such as NetAct, HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, and skills in database management, scripting languages, and industry certifications like TM Forum standards are often required. Effective communication, problem-solving, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for working with cross-functional teams and managing evolving network needs. These skills enable efficient network operations, rapid troubleshooting, and successful project delivery in a dynamic telecom environment.

What is the difference between Contract Telecom Oss vs Network Operations Technician?

AspectContract Telecom OssNetwork Operations Technician
CertificationsTelecom-specific certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+)Network certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+)
Work EnvironmentProject-based, contract roles in telecom companiesOperational, maintenance roles in network facilities
Industry UsagePrimarily in telecom service providers and contractorsIn telecom, ISPs, and network service providers
Job FocusImplementing, configuring, and maintaining telecom systemsMonitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining network infrastructure

Contract Telecom Oss and Network Operations Technician roles share certifications and work environments related to network and telecom systems. However, Contract Telecom Oss typically involves project-based work focused on telecom system deployment, while Network Operations Technicians focus on ongoing network maintenance and troubleshooting. Both roles are essential in the telecom industry but differ in scope and job focus.

What are Contract Telecom OSS roles?

Contract Telecom OSS roles involve professionals who work on a contract basis to manage, maintain, or develop Operations Support Systems (OSS) within telecommunications companies. OSS are the IT systems used by telecom providers to support network operations, including service provisioning, network management, and fault monitoring. Contractors in these roles may be responsible for system integration, software configuration, troubleshooting, and ensuring smooth network operations. These positions often require strong technical knowledge of telecom networks and OSS software, as well as experience with industry standards and protocols. Contract Telecom OSS professionals help telecom companies adapt their systems to new technologies and ensure reliable service delivery.

Job description

Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you've come to the right place!

E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system that will fundamentally change the design, economics, manufacturing and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.

We're intentional, we're unapologetically curious and we're 100% committed to innovate space-based communications and deliver actionable intelligence that will expand global economies, protect space and our planet and enhance our overall quality of life.

We are looking for a Software Integration Lead to own the integration of back-end subscriber and business support systems with E-Space's 5G Core network. This is a hands-on technical leadership role sitting at the boundary between the core network and the systems that provision, manage, and bill subscribers - SIM and eSIM provisioning, CRM, billing and charging, and device management. You will own the interface contracts, drive integration delivery, and ensure these systems interoperate correctly with core network functions end-to-end, spanning satellite and ground environments.

What you will do:
  • Own the integration architecture and delivery for back-end systems that interface directly with the 5G Core: SIM/eSIM provisioning, CRM, billing and online/offline charging, and device management.
  • Define and implement the integration between SIM and eSIM provisioning infrastructure and core subscriber management - including subscriber profile delivery, remote SIM provisioning workflows, and profile lifecycle management across satellite and ground.
  • Design and own the interface between CRM and the core network: subscriber record synchronisation, service entitlement and quota management, and real-time event delivery for customer-facing workflows.
  • Lead integration of the billing and charging stack with the core charging interfaces - CDR generation and delivery, online charging authorization flows, and reconciliation between core charging events and BSS billing records.
  • Integrate device management capabilities with core network functions, including device policy enforcement, configuration delivery, and status signalling across the satellite link.
  • Define interface contracts (API specifications, data models, event schemas) at each BSS/OSS-to-core boundary; maintain them as the engineering source of truth shared across core software and back-end platform teams.
  • Build and maintain integration test harnesses for each BSS/OSS-to-core interface; drive automation and define acceptance criteria for every interface at each release milestone.
  • Own defect triage and root-cause analysis for integration failures at BSS/OSS-to-core boundaries; coordinate resolution across core software and back-end platform engineering teams.
  • Lead and mentor a small integration engineering team (2-4 engineers); set delivery cadence and engineering quality standards.
What you bring to this role:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience, with significant focus on BSS/OSS integration with mobile core networks.
  • Strong understanding of 5G Core subscriber management and the interfaces that connect BSS/OSS systems to the core - authentication, session management, policy, and charging.
  • Hands-on experience integrating SIM or eSIM provisioning infrastructure (SM-DP+, SM-SR, or equivalent) with mobile core subscriber management systems.
  • Experience integrating CRM and billing platforms with telecom core networks: service provisioning APIs, online/offline charging interfaces, CDR delivery, and event-driven subscriber data updates.
  • Experience with device management integration in a mobile or IoT context: policy enforcement, remote configuration, and status reporting over cellular.
  • Strong API design and integration engineering skills: REST and event-driven interface specification, data model design, and integration test automation.
  • Experience leading small software integration teams with clear API contract discipline and release tracking.
Bonus points for the following:
  • Experience with eSIM and remote SIM provisioning in a satellite or IoT connectivity context.
  • Background in MVNO BSS/OSS integration: multi-PLMN subscriber management, roaming data exchange, or MVNO billing stack integration.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native core deployment and how containerised network functions affect BSS/OSS integration patterns.
  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced R&D environment where integration scope expands rapidly.
  • Prior work with government or defence connectivity platforms with BSS/OSS integration requirements.
$180,000 - $220,000 a year

This is a full time, exempt position, based out of our Saratoga, CA office.

The total compensation packaged will be determined by various factors such as your relevant job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

We are redefining how satellites are designed, manufactured and used-so we're looking for candidates with passion, deep knowledge and direct experience on LEO satellite component development, design and in-orbit activities. If that's your experience - then we'll be immediately wow-ed.
