Job Summary


The Maintenance Crew Member is responsible for landscaping and maintaining the grounds of properties, ensuring a clean, safe, and visually appealing environment. This role involves performing a wide variety of tasks including mowing, trimming, planting, irrigation maintenance, equipment care, and general upkeep of outdoor areas. Maintenance Crew Members use both hand and power tools, working independently or as part of a team to deliver high-quality service.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Mow, edge, and trim turf areas using powered and hand tools
  • Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges
  • Plant, cultivate, fertilize, and maintain flowers, trees, shrubs, and hedges
  • Dig, spread, and level soil using shovels, rakes, and other tools
  • Install sod, mulch, pine straw, and other ground covers
  • Install landscape edging, borders, and hardscapes (patios, walkways, retaining walls)
  • Perform routine equipment checks and maintenance (fueling, oil, air pressure, safety checks)
  • Fully fuel up all equipment at the end of each workday
  • Clean and maintain job sites, including debris removal, storm cleanup, and trash pickup
  • Ensure all work is completed in a timely, high-quality, and safe manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements


Required Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge of landscaping tools, equipment, and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to operate mowers (zero-turn, push), trimmers, blowers, edgers, chainsaws, and irrigation tools.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Commitment to safety for self, co-workers, and the public.

Education and Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent desired
  • Previous outside construction, landscape, or similar field experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills a must
  • 6 months commercial landscape experience preferred but not required

Physical Requirements

  • Full range of mobility in upper and lower body
  • Ability to work in various positions (standing, kneeling, squatting, bending) for extended periods
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push materials and equipment
  • Regularly lift up to 50 pounds throughout the workday
