Director, Salesforce & Data Systems

Greater Baltimore Committee

Baltimore, MD โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Re-posted 23 days ago

Job description

GBC is actively building its data culture and operational infrastructure, and the Director, Salesforce & Data Systems, will play a meaningful role in shaping how the organization uses data to make decisions, measure impact, and connect systems for greater productivity. The right person brings Salesforce expertise and the curiosity and motivation to build cross-functional infrastructure that supports business processes and informs how platforms connect, how data flows, and how technology can better serve the organization's goals.
In this role, you will own the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our Salesforce instance. This role is the organization's primary Salesforce resource - responsible for data integrity, platform configuration, user support, reporting, and documentation.
The Director, Salesforce & Data Systems works closely with GBC's external implementation consultant, provides strategic insight on Salesforce planning and refinement as well as overall integration with GBC's Tech Stack, and reports to GBC's Head of Transformation and Performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Platform Administration
  • Serve as GBC's primary Salesforce administrator, owning day-to-day triage, issue resolution, and user support
  • Maintain deep working knowledge of all Salesforce processes, workflows, and configurations and support the cross-functional definition of these business processes
  • Execute configuration work independently when scope and complexity allow; escalate to the consultant when appropriate
  • Manage the relationship with GBC's external Salesforce implementation consultant, coordinating on deliverables, timelines, and priorities; collaborate with the Head of Transformation and Performance for new consultant engagements and data system and technology transformation strategy

Data Management
  • Prepare, clean, and validate data for bulk import and ongoing data hygiene in Salesforce
  • Maintain data integrity across the Salesforce instance; identify and resolve data quality issues proactively
  • Manage organizational Salesforce reporting to support data-driven decision-making across the organization
  • Support integration and process strategy and execution related to other GBC platforms and AI workflows.

Development & Documentation
  • Build and maintain Salesforce components (fields, page layouts, flows, validation rules, reports, dashboards) independently within scope
  • Own Salesforce documentation: keep configuration records, process guides, and training materials current and accessible
  • Track and manage a backlog of Salesforce development requests across teams as well as system feedback

Adoption & Change Management
  • Support adoption activities, including documenting and communicating norms and processes
  • Coordinate and facilitate Salesforce user training for staff at all experience levels
  • Develop training materials and provide tailored 1:1 support to increase adoption
  • Serve as a resource for staff navigating Salesforce questions and workflow changes
  • Partner with the Head of Transformation and Performance to identify opportunities for process improvement, system optimization, and cross-platform integration that support organizational goals.
  • Contribute to the development of GBC's data systems roadmap, including recommendations related to system enhancements, reporting capabilities, data governance, and user adoption.
  • Evaluate business processes and recommend technology solutions that improve efficiency, data quality, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Support the assessment and implementation of new tools, integrations, and AI-enabled workflows that strengthen GBC's technology ecosystem.

What You'll Do Day-to-Day
  • Triage and resolve Salesforce support requests from staff
  • Prepare and clean data for bulk import into Salesforce
  • Build and update reports and dashboards in collaboration with leadership and operational teams to solve business problems
  • Maintain and improve Salesforce documentation
  • Coordinate Salesforce development/implementation activities with the external consultant
  • Facilitate cross-functional meetings to gather requirements, clarify business processes, and align stakeholders. Document business processes and requirements for technical and business stakeholders.
  • Support Salesforce adoption and deliver or coordinate user training as needs arise
  • Monitor data quality and resolve issues before they compound

Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience as a Salesforce administrator
  • Demonstrated experience configuring Salesforce independently (fields, flows, page layouts, reports, dashboards)
  • Proficiency in Salesforce data management: data import/export, bulk operations, deduplication, and data hygiene
  • Strong Salesforce report and dashboard building skills
  • Experience preparing and cleaning data for CRM import (Excel, CSV-based workflows)
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities and communicate clearly with vendors, staff and leadership
  • Experience with business process analysis, systems design, data architecture, or technology strategy is strongly preferred.
  • Experience managing an external Salesforce consultant or vendor relationship
  • Experience with Mailchimp, Blackthorn and Quickbooks integration is a plus
  • Experience with Monday.com is a plus
  • Experience with training and capacity-building is a plus
  • Salesforce Administrator certification (ADM 201) or equivalent demonstrated experience is preferred
  • Experience working with or for a nonprofit, membership organization, or economic development entity
  • Experience with event-driven organizations or CRM migration projects
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook)

Ideal Qualities:
  • Makes data accessible: You can build and explain reports. You communicate complex information clearly to people at every level of technical fluency, and you take satisfaction in bringing others along.
  • Holds the standard: You take data integrity seriously, fix problems without drama, and build habits and systems that prevent them from recurring.
  • Service-Minded: You take deep satisfaction in making things work well for others and you understand that technical excellence only lands when you meet people where they are.
  • Adaptable: GBC is mid-transformation. Priorities shift, systems and practices are still being built, and ambiguity is part of the work. You stay steady and keep moving.
  • Judgment over compliance: You are rules-based and you also understand why rules exist and can apply good judgment and creativity when the playbook hasn't been written yet.

COMPENSATION
The salary range for this position is $85,000-$95,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience, with potential for an annual bonus based on performance.
