Job description

Salesforce Engineer

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on Salesforce Engineer to drive a massive digital transformation. The organization is actively migrating to Salesforce after 10 years on a legacy platform (SugarCRM).

This is a net-new position joining a core team of two CRM Administrators, one Product Owner, and a Dev Lead. As the third full-time member of the core team, you will act as the technical anchor—translating complex business problems into robust technical requirements, defining platform best practices, and mentoring the existing administrative team into an engineering mindset.

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Type: 6-Month Contract-for-Hire (Direct-hire options considered for the right candidate)
  • Format: Hybrid (In-office Tuesdays & Thursdays; Remote Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays)
  • Location: Lenexa, Kansas

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Execution: Analyze, design, code, debug, test, and deploy customized Salesforce solutions across an active, phased rollout starting with Sales Cloud and Service Cloud.
  • Complex Troubleshooting: Deeply analyze and debug low-level issues spanning multiple systems and intricate business logic without relying on external architects for solutions.
  • Team Mentorship: Provide ongoing architectural guidance, technical coaching, and mentorship to two internal CRM administrators to strengthen the team''''s engineering capability.
  • Collaboration: Partner closely side-by-side with the Product Owner and Dev Lead to design strategic technical workflows and build platform guardrails.
  • Agile Participation: Engage in all Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

Core Requirements

Technical Experience

  • Salesforce Platform: 4+ years of true software and application development experience (or 6+ years in lieu of a degree), with deep expertise in Sales Cloud and Service Cloud.
  • Apex & Flow Development: Expert-level proficiency with Apex development (knowing exactly when to use custom code vs. configuration) and strong foundational knowledge of Flows and Lightning Web Components (LWC).
  • Integration & APIs: Proven experience building custom integration patterns and APIs (exposure to .NET, .NET Core API development, and SQL Server is highly valued).
  • Engineering Mindset: Strong background in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles, system design, application security (OAuth, OWASP), and automated unit testing.

Professional Attributes

  • Senior Problem Solver: A true technical engineer with a strong curiosity to solve problems creatively rather than defaulting to standard functional workarounds.
  • Consultative Communication: Ability to collaborate closely with non-technical business partners and explain highly complex technical design choices in simple business terms.
  • Team Player: A collaborative, "nothing is my job" attitude, prioritizing overall team success and continuous cross-functional engagement over isolated development.

Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

  • Experience with Marketing Cloud, MCAE (Account Engagement), or Experience Cloud.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Einstein AI tools.
  • Background in the Financial or Bankcard processing industries.
