Job description

Job Title: Construction Manager

Job Description

The Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing construction sites, subcontractors, and workers to ensure a high level of quality and safety. This role requires interfacing with Project Managers, Engineers, and Customers to successfully execute multiple projects. The Construction Manager will also serve as the onsite Safety Manager/Representative in addition to their other duties.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage multiple projects with multiple employees and/or subcontractors.
  • Read construction prints, submittals, and other associated technical documentation, managing the implementation of designs with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Create and review Requests for Information, Requests for Proposal, and Change Orders.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with specifications, approved manuals, and procedures.
  • Document projects in accordance with contract documents and good engineering practices.
  • Perform change order estimating and assist the Project Manager in change order negotiations.
  • Coordinate and monitor schedule updates, invoices, and submittals.
  • Assist in managing and reviewing the progress of construction schedules.
  • Review weekly and monthly reports on the status and progress of the contracts, including project costs and potential changes.
  • Conduct client program meetings as needed.
  • Monitor employee and subcontractor compliance with applicable safety and health requirements.
  • Conduct safety inspections/audits to ensure implementation of safety, health, and environmental procedures and policies.
  • Research and implement new site safety practices.
  • Analyze accident reports and evaluate injury case studies.
  • Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees and subcontractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies and standards.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of construction management experience in medical facilities.
  • Proficiency in construction technology and project controls.
  • Knowledge of risk assessment/management and administrative policies and procedures.
  • Strong conflict management and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfort with time reporting systems.
  • Familiarity with MS Office Schedule software and Primavera preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel is required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 Hour Certification.
  • First Aid/CPR Certified.
  • Construction Quality Management for Contractors preferred.
  • EM 385-1-1 Awareness Training preferred.
  • Plumbing, HVAC, or Electrical License is a plus.
  • HVAC, HVAC controls, Plumbing, or Electrical design-build construction projects preferred.
  • Experience on Government installations/projects preferred but not required.

Work Environment

Candidates will travel to construction sites to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within safety guidelines. This position requires 100% travel, with candidates being home every 6-8 weeks, some long weekends, and holidays. The candidate's cost of living on the site will be provided along with the GSA (ME&I) portion. If they are a traveler, their lot rent would be covered for 5th wheels. A truck will be provided for candidates to access sites.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $58.00/hr.
