Location:Silverdale, Washington (Bangor)

Type:Non-Exempt

Work Schedule:Full-time

Compensation:$38.76-$38.76per hour

The Rigger safely moves, lifts, and installs heavy equipment or materials using Lifting and Handling tools such as wire ropes, cranes, forklifts andchainfalls. They plan and set up rigging systems, attach loads securely, and coordinate with teams to ensure everything is moved safely and efficiently.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or material in manufacturing plant or shipyard, select wire ropes, synthetic slings,chainfalls, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.

  • Give directions to Crane Operator or Hoisting Engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensuresafetyof workers and material handled, using hand signals,loudspeaker, or radio.

  • Rigging lift duties include maintenance on cranes, re-wiring cranes, and pouring socketsin accordance withapplicable regulations. Splices synthetic or natural fiber rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle.

  • Attach load with rigging gear such as slings, wires,ropesand chains,to cranehook. Give directions to Crane Operator or Hoisting Engineer engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensuresafetyof workers and material handled, using hand signals,loudspeaker, ortelephone.

  • May direct workersengagedin hoisting machinery and equipment. Work withTestTeam to test and certify cranes. Use forklifts to move material.

  • Setup, braces, andrigshoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches, splices rope and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle, and may direct workers engaged in hoisting machinery and equipment.

  • Test and certify rigging gear and equipmentin accordance withapplicable regulations.

  • Ensure equipment being used is certified,appropriate forthe application, and inspected prior to use.

  • This position may be subject to call-back availability based on operational needs.

  • All Other Duties/Projects as Assigned

Qualifications:

  • Applicable Rigger training and certificate from NCCER, NCCCO, or from approved 3rd party certification body,required.

  • Forklift certificationrequired.

  • At least 3 years of experience in cranes.

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

  • Ability to do basic math,i.e.add, subtract, divide, and multiply.

  • Ability to perform metric conversions.

  • Understanding ofrigging components such as shackles, wire rope slings, block and tackle, come-a-longs, and air tuggers, including their capacities and proper use.

  • Familiar with crane signals.

  • Knowledge of different crane operations, such as mobile cranes, bridgecranesand jib cranes.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Must be able to provide customer service in a professional and courteous manner.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, crawl, reach, push, pull, and climb.

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to obtain andmaintainall applicable federal security clearances.

  • Required drug screening, physical, and background check.

  • A valid statedriverlicense isrequired. Must be able to obtain andmaintaincoverage by HMG's insurance company.
