Job description

Quality Engineer – PPAP & Supplier Quality

Location: Brandon, FL
Job Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 100% on-site
Salary: $78,000–$92,000 per year, based on experience
Benefits: 4 weeks paid time off + employer contribution toward individual health insurance

Build Quality Systems. Own PPAP. Make an Impact.

We are a growing, family-owned product development and manufacturing company that designs and develops innovative hand tools and hardware products for major brands worldwide. With more than 250 pending and granted patents across our product lines, we engineer and create products that are sold throughout the U.S., Australia, the EU, and other global markets.

We are looking for a Quality Engineer to take ownership of product quality and the PPAP submission process from start to finish.

This is an important, independent quality role with real authority. You will build and maintain PPAP packages, establish quality standards, verify supplier data, define critical-to-quality characteristics, and ensure products meet requirements before they reach customers.

The ideal candidate is meticulous, organized, and highly accountable. You take ownership of your work, verify the details before signing off, and have the integrity to never approve something you haven't properly validated.

What You'll Do

  • Own the PPAP process from preparation through submission, including customer-specific formats and requirements.
  • Build and maintain a master quality-evidence package that can be adapted for different customers.
  • Develop and maintain APQP core tools, including process flow diagrams, control plans, and PFMEAs.
  • Define and manage Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) characteristics in partnership with engineering.
  • Review engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and revisions to ensure quality requirements are clearly defined and measurable.
  • Review supplier quality documentation, including dimensional layouts, material certifications, heat-treat and coating certifications, capability studies, and measurement-system analysis.
  • Work with overseas contract manufacturers to ensure required quality documentation and data are complete and accurate.
  • Review first-article inspection results and other production quality evidence.
  • Prepare and manage Part Submission Warrants (PSWs) as the supplier of record.
  • Support product compliance activities involving REACH, SVHC, RoHS, and IMDS declarations.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective-action activities, including 8D and CAPA.
  • Develop and maintain the company's PPAP Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
  • Partner with engineering, suppliers, customers, and internal teams to resolve quality issues and continuously improve processes.
  • Occasionally travel for supplier and customer visits, including potential international travel.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with PPAP preparation, submission, or management.
  • Working knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, MSA, SPC, and other AIAG core quality tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience identifying and verifying Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) characteristics.
  • Comfortable using measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and digital measuring instruments.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
  • Clear communication skills when working with suppliers, customers, and internal teams.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Must be fluent in English.
  • Must be available to work 100% on-site in Brandon, FL, five days per week.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience independently authoring and submitting customer PPAP packages.
  • Automotive manufacturing or IATF 16949 experience.
  • Hand-tool, fastener, hardware, or similar manufactured-product experience.
  • CQE certification.
  • ISO 9001 or Quality Management System (QMS) experience.
  • Experience with supplier quality and overseas contract manufacturers.
  • Experience with incoming inspection, metrology, gauge calibration, or MSA.
  • Familiarity with REACH, RoHS, and IMDS product-compliance requirements.

The Person We're Looking For

You are someone who:

  • Takes extreme ownership of product quality.
  • Is meticulous, thorough, and highly conscientious.
  • Verifies information before signing off on it.
  • Builds systems and documentation rather than relying on informal processes.
  • Can work independently while collaborating effectively with engineering and suppliers.
  • Is coachable, curious, and eager to grow.
  • Stays organized and calm while managing deadlines and multiple priorities.

Why Join Us?

  • $78,000–$92,000 base salary, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • 4 weeks (20 days) of paid time off.
  • Employer contribution toward individual health insurance.
  • No Florida state income tax.
  • An independent quality role with meaningful authority and ownership from day one.
  • Opportunity to build and improve the company's quality systems and PPAP processes.
  • Clear growth potential as the company expands its quality organization.
  • Opportunity to work with innovative products and a global supplier network.

If you are a Quality Engineer who understands PPAP and takes pride in getting the details right, we'd like to hear from you.
