As a Fleet Analytics Manager with Southern States Material Handling: You will contribute to making Southern States Material Handling a leader in the material handling industry by driving data-driven decision making and operational alignment across Strategic Fleet Accounts. This role focuses on fleet cost optimization, utilization performance, and lifecycle planning for rental and non-fixed assets. You will partner closely with operations and leadership to ensure best-in-class service delivery, profitability, and continuous improvement across the fleet portfolio.

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong foundational knowledge of equipment maintenance, service scheduling, and repair practices (material handling or similar industry preferred)
  • Interest in or experience with fleet management, asset lifecycle planning, and operational performance tracking
  • Analytical mindset with the ability (or desire to develop) skills in trend analysis, cost management, and profitability evaluation
  • Exposure to or willingness to learn fleet management systems, maintenance tracking tools, and reporting platforms
  • Understanding of financial concepts such as budgeting, cost control, and CAPEX planning is preferred but can be developed
  • Ability to identify operational challenges and contribute to solutions that improve efficiency and performance
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a process-driven approach to continuous improvement
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams, even without direct authority
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights
  • Interest in training, coaching, or supporting field teams on best practices
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail


Education and Certification Needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Finance, or related field a plus; but equivalent combination of hands-on experience and industry knowledge will be considered
  • 5–10+ years of experience in material handling, equipment maintenance, service operations, fleet support, or related field
  • Prior experience or exposure to fleet management, rental operations, asset lifecycle planning, or CAPEX planning preferred.
  • Experience working in a technician, service, or operations-based role with a strong understanding of equipment and maintenance practices is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated interest or experience in data analysis, reporting, or performance tracking is a plus
  • Proven ability to take on increasing responsibility, solve problems, and drive improvements within operations
  • Experience in industrial, equipment, or field service environments


What you’ll Do:

  • Partner with Operations leadership to ensure timely, cost-effective completion of maintenance, repairs, and service work across Strategic Fleet Accounts
  • Fleet Cost Control: Monitor fleet performance against profitability targets, identify underperforming assets, conduct root-cause analysis, and drive corrective actions to improve cost efficiency and service outcomes
  • Conduct regular audits of maintenance activity and billing to ensure accuracy, identify discrepancies, and improve cost tracking across the organization
  • Analyze maintenance trends and provide actionable recommendations to improve fleet reliability, reduce costs, and support equipment specification decisions
  • Develop and deliver training to operations teams on best practices for maintenance cost management, service execution, and financial accountability
  • Rental Fleet & Non-Fixed Assets: Partner with leadership to develop and maintain a long-term rental fleet strategy, including a 5-year fleet plan and annual CAPEX planning for acquisitions, replacements, and transfers
  • Oversee onboarding, reconditioning, and lifecycle integration of rental fleet assets to ensure readiness and optimal performance
  • Track and report on fleet utilization metrics, including days on rent and financial performance, to drive informed business decisions
  • Monitor and manage fleet assets operating outside standard service areas, ensuring maintenance compliance and performance standards are met
  • Identify units at risk (“in distress”) and proactively implement mitigation strategies, including repair, replacement, or reallocation
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to refine Total Care programs, pricing strategies, and service models to improve profitability and customer satisfaction
  • Establish performance objectives and drive initiatives that support fleet optimization and overall portfolio profitability
  • Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring adherence to company and regulatory safety standards
  • Support development of processes, tools, and reporting that enhance visibility and decision-making across fleet operations
  • Act as a key resource to leadership by providing insights, recommendations, and reporting on fleet performance and opportunities for improvement
  • Mon-Fri 8am – 5pm-Hybrid work model after training.
  • Travel- Up to 20 regionally%
