Controls Engineer
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with a strong background in Building Automation Systems to join a growing team. This is a hands-on position that covers system design, programming, and project coordination, supporting a wide range of commercial and industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
System Design and Engineering
- Design BAS solutions aligned with project requirements
- Develop control drawings, system architecture, and sequences of operation
- Create points lists and equipment schedules
- Review mechanical and electrical documentation to ensure accurate system integration
- Select appropriate field devices, controllers, and network components
Programming and System Development
- Program controllers and develop system logic, graphics, alarms, and user interfaces
- Utilize Niagara N4 for system configuration and integration
- Configure communication protocols including BACnet IP and Modbus
Project Support and Coordination
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and end users throughout the project lifecycle
- Maintain organized documentation and version control for all system files
- Support system turnover activities, including client training
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of experience in BAS or HVAC controls engineering
- Experience with DDC, PLC, or ladder logic programming
- Familiarity with Niagara N4 environments
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems such as VAV, AHU, chillers, boilers, and VRF systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Working knowledge of BACnet and Modbus communication protocols
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience with design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or Visio
Preferred Qualifications
- Niagara certification or equivalent BAS certifications
- Understanding of network infrastructure including IP addressing, switches, and VLANs
- Familiarity with energy optimization strategies and industry standards such as ASHRAE
- Experience integrating third-party systems into BAS environments
