Job description

Project Controls Scheduling Team Lead | Project Shared Services Department

Will be in support of the generating facilities in the Georgia Power footprint.

WORK LOCATION

  • This position will be located in the Atlanta metro area, however candidates living outside of the area may be considered with the expectation that they could successfully telework and would be willing to travel to work and/or field location on a routine (to be determined) and as-needed basis.
  • This position will require a mix of both field and office work. 
  • Some office work can be performed remotely (telework/work from home).

JOB SUMMARY 

This position is responsible for the oversight of the Project Shared Services Project Controls' Scheduling team for the assigned region. This includes providing direction and implementation of Project Controls' Scheduling policies, standards, and procedures, ensuring Project Controls' Scheduling deliverables meet and/or exceed stakeholder expectations, and providing strategic planning for all aspects of project scheduling. This position may have full-time and/or supplemental direct reports. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • College diploma or university degree in an engineering, technical, or business field or minimum 10 years equivalent experience preferred.

Experience

  • Experience working directly in project controls, project management, and/or construction management in a heavy industrial setting is required.
    • 8+ years' experience in these areas is preferred.
  • Experience working in Primavera software required.
    • 5+ years' Primavera experience is preferred.
    • Acumen Fuse is preferred.
  • Primavera CPM schedule development required.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment required.
  • Experience with EPC projects (engineering, procurement, construction, and startup) required.
  • Working knowledge of multiple contract methodologies required.
  • Experience supervising a team, setting priorities, managing resources, and putting strategic objectives into place preferred.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of project costing, estimating, and scheduling techniques along with knowledge of project controls methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction and engineering productivity/earned value processes.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.

Skills

  • Must be able to lead and develop a diverse workforce, maximize team effectiveness, set high expectations of those around them and hold employees accountable for those expectations.
  • Experience in organizing and managing multiple projects at the same time. Proven ability to plan; ability to discern problems that need immediate attention versus those that allow more time to resolve.
  • Proven experience in written and verbal communications to diverse audiences and ability to tailor communication accordingly.
  • Sets a priority on customer satisfaction and delivering valuable products.
  • Analytical and creative problem-solving skills.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Schedule Management: Supervises the scheduling team for the assigned region and ensures project controls standards are being met.  Verifies all project scope is included and reflected accurately.  Ensures Change Management is aligned between cost and schedule.
  2. Schedule Reporting: Oversees the project schedule reporting for the assigned region.  Ensures all projects receive accurate and timely schedule reports needed to support effective project management.  Works closely with regional cost lead to ensure consistency in deliverables.
  3. Customer Relations: Serves as interface between Project Control's and customers.  Implements recommended actions and improvements within their assigned region. Works closely with other Team Leads to ensure consistent implementation of Project Controls deliverables. Exhibits ability to work well with project managers, portfolio managers, procurement, engineering, construction, start-up, and project controls.
  4. Strategic Planning: Proactively investigates shortcomings and unserved needs and prepares recommendations and business cases as appropriate.  Assesses effectiveness of improvement initiatives post-implementation and plans corrective actions as appropriate. Communicates strategic plans to ensure understanding and shared vision.
  5. Performance Management: Supervises and manages daily activities of a team of full time and/or supplemental direct reports.  Achieves superior business results across a diverse workgroup. Motivates employees to exhibit Our Values in all areas by personal example.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
