Job description

Patient Care Coordinator

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • General:
    • Adheres to hospital and department policies
    • Communicates effectively in English
    • Ability to care for patients of all ages

  • Specific:
    • Maintains attendance
    • Arrives to work punctually
    • Follows dress code

    • Follows Department of Nursing and hospital policies and procedures
    • Complies with Surgery Department policies and procedures

Patient Care Coordinator:

  • Assists registered nurse in planning patient care
  • Documents patient care on peri-operative record
  • Collaborates with other healthcare team members
  • Participates in performance improvement activities

Interpersonal skills:

  • Communicates with peers, other healthcare team members, patients, visitors
    • Maintains adaptability
    • Supports co-workers
    • Resolves problems

Clinical Preceptor:

    • Performs as clinical preceptor as assigned

Care of environment and equipment:

    • Maintains unit
    • Maintains and cleans equipment
    • Operates equipment according to manufacturer's manual

Information processing and documentation:

  • Communicates patient information to the manager
  • Documents information
  • Charges for equipment and supplies
  • Uses computer systems efficiently

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • General:
    • Operation of OR equipment
    • Operation of Central Supply equipment
    • Scheduling procedures
  • Specific:
    • Knowledge of procedures done at Crawford County Memorial Hospital and preference cards
    • Understanding of sterile technique
    • Anticipate surgeon's needs
    • Keep a calm attitude in stressful circumstances

Education/certification requirements:

  • Prefer graduate of accredited Surgical Technologists program (RN's and LPN's are able to function as a scrub nurse with the same orientation as a scrub tech)
    • BLS
    • Scrub tech certification

Experience requirements (mandatory and preferred):

  • Ability to care for all patient populations
  • One to two years recent experience in a surgical setting – scrub tech, RN, LPN
  • Two years as CNA who exhibits excellent knowledge of sterile technique will be considered

Qualifications:

Education: Technical/other training or better in related fields.

Experience: Preferred 2 years CNA who exhibits excellent knowledge of sterile technique. Preferred 1-2 years recent experience in surgical setting (Scrub Tech, RN or LPN).

Licenses & Certifications: Preferred Associates - Nursing. Certified Nursing Assist.
