Job description

This position supports the successful execution of our National Roofing and Siding projects by assisting with estimating, bidding, project coordination, and procurement activities. Responsibilities include reviewing bid packages, performing quantity takeoffs, gathering and compiling data for estimates and proposals, and preparing proposal documents. The role also supports project managers by tracking project progress, coordinating materials and equipment, maintaining project documentation, and participating in jobsite visits. A strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer service is essential. This position is based out of our New Brighton, MN office with some travel to job sites.
Responsibilities:
  • Extract takeoff quantities from bid drawings and field measurements, as established from reviewing specifications, terms, and conditions from bid packages
  • Prepare costs to apply to takeoff quantities, for use in developing bid for proposals
  • Participate in developing project updates
  • Assist in preparation of proposal documents
  • Maintain files of working documents for back-up to estimate and account related documents
  • Assist in preparation of cost analysis reports on a regular basis for record keeping and presentation to management and customers as necessary
  • Create and maintain relationships with customers as directed by manager
  • Write correspondence on matters of importance per direction of manager
  • Participate in evaluation of completed jobs and compile accurate cost histories for use in future estimates
  • Prepare special reports and complete other projects as directed
  • Assume additional duties as directed by supervisor
  • Assemble information pertaining to maintenance contracts and cost plus rates
  • Develop and sustain current and future relations with customers
  • Track cost plus labor and material quantities and rates on a regular basis
  • Assist in the coordination of resources. (i.e. manpower, equipment, and materials)

Requirements:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
  • Thorough understanding of contracts, plans, specifications, and regulations
  • Ability to remain flexible and efficient in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to make intelligent and quick decisions, working well under pressure, and when faced with unexpected occurrences or delays
  • Ability to effectively multitask while analyzing and solving problems
  • Thorough understanding of engineering, architectural, and other construction drawings

Education & Experience:
  • Minimum two-year degree in construction management or construction related field
  • Strong ability to read drawings; ability to perform quantitative take-offs / estimates
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills (extensive work with spreadsheets)
  • Experience with scheduling software such as Primavera; OSHA 30-hour training
  • Strong writing skills; accurate, detailed, reliable, persistent, self-motivated, high energy, and quick learner required; strong ability to retain new knowledge required
  • Must have ability to handle several tasks and projects simultaneously

Travel Requirements:
  • Travel is expected to average approximately two days per month and may vary based on project and business need.

  • Must be able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders via face to face, conference calls, and online meetings
  • The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in plant environment
  • PPE required when in the plant, yard or construction areas include:
    • Hard Hat
    • Safety Glasses / Goggles
    • Steel-toed Boots
    • High Visibility Vest
    • Hearing Protection (designated areas)
    • Gloves

This position is not eligible for sponsorship
Compensation:
  • Assistant PM 1: $51,500-$77,200
  • Assistant PM 2: $56,500-$84,800
  • This role is eligible for an annual incentive opportunity with a target potential of up to 5%, based on individual and company performance and subject to the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
