Job description

About the Role:

Lola Blankets is a fast-growing comfort and lifestyle brand on a mission to make the world a cozier place. We are seeking a Color & Print Designer to own color and print research, development, and design across Lola's collection of blankets, sleepwear, and accessories. The ideal candidate has a strong creative eye, solid technical foundation, and the ability to develop color palettes and prints that resonate in the elevated home and lifestyle space while maintaining the aesthetic, softness, and integrity of the Lola brand.

The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-growing DTC environment and understands how to translate trend, consumer insight, and brand DNA into scalable, production-ready artwork and color stories.

This is a hybrid role, reporting to the Senior Director of Product Design. You'll be based in our office 3 days per week in Brooklyn.

Core Responsibilities:

Seasonal Concept Development

  • Develop seasonal color palettes and print direction aligned with brand strategy and assortment plans
  • Create digital mood boards, inspiration decks, and trend research presentations to support seasonal concept reviews
  • Conduct market and trend research across home, lifestyle, and fashion to inform color and print direction
  • Partner with the full Product team to establish cohesive, brand-right color stories across categories

Print & Pattern Design

  • Design original prints and patterns across all categories for mainline and collaborations
  • Originate artwork by hand and translate it into production-ready repeats - hand painting and drawing strongly preferred
  • Translate prints and colorways across substrates - faux fur, plush, wovens, knits, and trims - ensuring designs perform beautifully at scale and in production
  • Prepare production-ready artwork files for vendor handoff, ensuring technical accuracy and repeat precision

Color Development & Production Execution

  • Manage the lab dip and print strike-off process
  • Provide clear, actionable feedback to vendors to ensure color consistency and print quality
  • Maintain color standards and oversee approvals through color trial and pre-production stages
  • Maintain organized documentation of color standards, print archives, artwork files, and seasonal records

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Design, Merchandising, and Product Development to ensure alignment between creative direction and commercial objectives
  • Support product storytelling and visual assets for internal reviews and launch planning
  • Participate in design meetings and assist with presentation preparation
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience at a fast-growing DTC apparel or home brandย
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating print development, color storytelling, and multi-category execution - hand painting and drawing skills strongly preferred
  • Deep understanding of textile printing techniques and production processes, including lab dips and print strike-offs from concept through production
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) and experience leveraging AI-based design platforms to accelerate ideation and iteration
  • Strong knowledge of repeat layouts, scale development, and color separation for production
  • Highly organized with strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple seasonal calendars simultaneously
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Passion for and understanding of the Lola Blankets brand aesthetic
  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, or related field
What We Offer
  • Competitive base salary and annual bonus based on company and individual performance
  • 21 days paid vacation + all federal holidays
  • Full health benefits (health, dental, vision, mental)
  • 16 weeks paid birth parent leave; 8 weeks non-birth parent leave
  • 55% off Lola Blankets for friends and family
  • Opportunities for career growth within Lola Blankets
  • An opportunity to make a direct impact on a high-growth, design-forward brand
  • A collaborative, passionate, and purpose-driven team
