SUMMARY:

The Solutions Engineer is a master storyteller, utilizing their extensive analytics experience to demonstrate the value of Placer. Their key responsibility is two-fold: not only bridging Placer's power to answer complex business questions for customers but also deeply understanding the complex data ecosystems of strategic accounts to articulate precisely how Placer fits in. The Solutions Engineer role is essential to the sales process, focusing on understanding customer needs, developing sales strategies, delivering compelling product demonstrations, supporting enterprise-level Proof of Concepts, and ultimately driving successful business closures. We are looking for highly motivated, curious and creative individuals experienced in client facing communication delivery and hands on data analysis, who enjoy solving real world problems and have a passion for correlating product innovations to client requirements and market trends.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead Technical Validation: Execute bespoke demos, POCs, and data trials to secure the technical win for strategic accounts.
  • Translate Value: Convert complex discovery insights into ROI-focused narratives for executive and technical stakeholders.
  • Partner on Strategy: Collaborate with Sales on account planning and technical strategy for high-contract-value opportunities, net business and expansion. 
  • Prove Utility: Validate Placer's data accuracy and methodology against the customer's specific business environment.
  • Drive Enablement: Transition post-sale to empowering customers to independently achieve and showcase their own wins.
  • Drive growth and innovation in Placer- Initiate internal discussion around key features that can be added to the Placer product roadmap.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS degree
  • 3+ years of experience working in a sales support role, such as Solution Engineer
  • 3+ years experience working in a SaaS company
  • 2+ years of data analytics experience -- proficient in at least one of: Esri, GIS tools, Python, R, Tableau Power BI, google data studio and similar BI tools. Proficiency in multiple is a bonus.
  • High level of knowledge in Statistics (familiarity with data science language and concepts is a bonus)
  • 2+ years of experience in client facing roles
  • Data analytics Skills, including proficiency in data analysis tools (at least one of the following: R, Python, SQL, Tableau, Data Studio or similar BI tools)
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and projects
  • Travel is required 35% of the time for customer meetings

The U.S. annualized pay range for this position is $140,000 - $155,000 USD total On Target Earnings (OTE = base salary + bonus target). Compensation offered within the stated range may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including job-related skills, professional experience, education and licenses (if applicable), work location and compensation market data.

Base pay is just a part of our total rewards program. Placer provides medical, dental and vision coverage as well as flexible time off, 401K and equity awards for certain roles.
