Work Shifts
4:00 P.M - 12:00 A.M working every other weekend
Duties & Responsibilities
- Primary operational point person for any Emergency Management event during non-business hours.
- Interfaces with outside agencies on behalf of the organization, such as OME, NYPD and FDNY, and escalates to senior management as appropriate.
- Resolves operational issues as requested by management.
- Manages issues related to staff incidents and implements standard operating procedures in consultation with HR, Department Heads and Labor Relations.
- During tour of duty, responds to requests from management staff to resolve issues. This may include but are not limited to: Patient complaints, Facility Issues, staffing issues, Bed assignment issues, Supplies issues, Telecommunication/IT issues.
- Elevates issues to Chief Operating Officer or CEO as appropriate.
- Interfaces with management including nursing, medical staff, facilities, hospital police, environmental services, admitting and other operational areas to resolve issues and solve problems.
- In the event of an Emergency Management event, becomes the incident commander until the Command Center structure is established.
- Performs frequent rounds of facility including units and departments and reports key operational statistics to senior management. Ensure staff, and residents' needs (supplies, meals, coverage) are addressed.
- Responds to patient and family complaints as requested from staff and/or others, and performs service recovery. Communicates, documents and addresses any grievances and complaints during the tour and forwards them to Social Services, Risk, and appropriate department head(s).
- Interfaces with HP, NYPD and other law enforcement agencies as incidents occur. Elevates issues to senior leadership as needed.
- Provides notification to facility leadership, of high-profile incidents which may attract media attention, by placing facility on media alert.
- Writes AOD report at end of shift for distribution to facility leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
1. A Masters degree in Arts or Science with a specialization in hospital administration, health care administration, administrative medicine or in public health when conferred for a program in hospital administration, from an approved college or university; or a Baccalaureate degree; and,
2. One (1) year of administrative experience and background; or,
3. An equivalent combination of training, education and experience in related fields and educational disciplines; and,
4. General knowledge of policies and programs utilized in the operation of a health care facility, ability to assimilate and analyze data, to recommend action based on analytical findings, and to assist in the solution of complex problems in health care administration and management.
