Job description

Title: Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Kalamazoo, MI (Onsite)
Duration: 6-12+ months


Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Design Engineer with a strong background in PCB design and layout to join our multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience developing electronic systems for regulated medical devices and a deep understanding of design for manufacturability, safety, and compliance standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, simulate, and verify analog and digital circuits for medical device applications
  • Develop multilayer PCB layouts using tools such as Altium Designer or OrCAD
  • Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and systems engineers throughout the product development cycle
  • Generate and maintain electrical schematics, BOMs, Gerber files, and design documentation
  • Ensure designs meet applicable standards (IEC 60601, ISO 13485, etc.)
  • Work with external vendors and manufacturing partners for prototyping and production
  • Support verification and validation testing, including root cause analysis and redesign
  • Contribute to risk analysis (FMEA) and design reviews
  • Maintain compliance with FDA and EU medical device regulations
  • Ability to be on customer site for key meetings, deliverables, etc.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical/PCB design, preferably in the medical device industry
  • Proficiency in PCB design tools. Preferably Altium.
  • Strong understanding of EMC/EMI design considerations and signal integrity
  • Experience with low-power, mixed-signal, and microcontroller-based systems
  • Knowledge of relevant medical device regulations and design control processes
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with wireless technologies (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, etc.) in medical applications
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) tools
  • IPC certification (CID or CID+)
