What is contract marketing?

Contract marketing refers to the practice of hiring marketing professionals or agencies on a contract basis to handle specific marketing projects or ongoing marketing needs for a business. Instead of employing full-time staff, companies use contract marketers to access specialized skills, manage costs, and scale their marketing efforts as needed. This approach offers flexibility and allows businesses to quickly adapt to changing market conditions or project demands.

What are some common challenges faced by contract marketing professionals when working with multiple clients simultaneously?

Contract marketing professionals often juggle several clients at once, which can lead to challenges in managing deadlines, shifting priorities, and aligning with each client's unique brand voice and objectives. Effective time management and clear communication are essential to ensure expectations are met and deliverables are consistent in quality. Additionally, adapting quickly to different industries and collaborating remotely with various teams are common aspects that require flexibility and strong interpersonal skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a contract marketing professional, and why are they important?

To excel in Contract Marketing, you need expertise in marketing strategy, market research, and contract negotiation, typically supported by a degree in marketing or business. Familiarity with CRM platforms, digital marketing tools, and contract management software is highly valuable. Strong communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills help you manage clients and projects effectively. These abilities ensure successful campaign execution, client satisfaction, and compliance with contractual obligations.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and optimize targeted paid media campaigns across platforms such as LinkedIn and Google Ads, managing agency and contractor partners.

  • Own end-to-end email marketing campaigns, including segmentation, deployment, and performance reporting via HubSpot.

  • Manage EDO's organic social channels, website content updates, and marketing operations including CRM workflows and lead tracking.

Job description

EDO is the TV outcomes company. Our leading measurement platform connects convergent TV airings to the ad-driven consumer behaviors most predictive of future sales. EDO empowers the advertising industry to maximize media impact, optimize creative performance, and know the fair value of every impression — across linear and streaming for an increasingly programmatic world. By combining immediate engagement signals with world-class decision science and vertical AI, EDO equips industry leaders with syndicated, investment-grade data that aligns media to business results. Leading brands, agencies, networks, streamers, and studios trust EDO's TV intelligence to know what works. EDO is headquartered in New York City and Los Angeles.

We recognize the benefits of hybrid working and want to create the best balance to ensure we can continue working together effectively. For our NYC team, we have a hybrid work policy of three days in the office and two remote work days.

The Role

EDO is hiring a Digital Marketing Manager to own and scale our digital activation engine. This is a high-autonomy role—not a support function. You will lead strategy and execution across paid media, email, social, and web to translate content launches into measurable pipeline impact, while managing our agency and contractor network.

Sitting at the center of our Go-to-Market team, you will collaborate directly with sales, product marketing, and executive leadership. We are looking for a self-directed growth marketer who moves fast, makes independent decisions, and thrives with minimal oversight in a lean, fast-paced startup environment.

What You Will Do
  • Paid Media & ABM: Plan, execute, and optimize targeted, full-funnel paid media campaigns across LinkedIn, Google Ads (display, SEM), and other potential programmatic and contextual buys; Manage agency and contractor partners to ensure campaigns are live on schedule, target lists are current, and performance is reviewed and optimized regularly.
  • Email Marketing: Own end-to-end email marketing via HubSpot — including campaigns, nurture flows, segmentation, deployment, and performance reporting; coordinate with contract writers to ensure content is on-brief, QA'd, and deployed on time.
  • Social Distribution: Manage EDO's organic social channels in support of content and campaign calendars; coordinate with content, PR, and contract social managers to amplify launches and earned media.
  • Website: Drive day-to-day website marketing — landing pages, campaign pages, blog posts, and product marketing pages — coordinating with contract web developers to scope, prioritize, and execute updates efficiently.
  • Marketing Operations & Activation: Own HubSpot CRM and automation — workflows, lead routing, MQL tracking, and reporting — while managing cross-functional coordination to ensure campaigns launch on time, on brief, and without friction.
  • Contractor & Agency Management: Set clear expectations, manage deliverables, and hold contract partners accountable across paid media, design, copywriting, web development, and social.
  • Reporting & Optimization: Regularly analyze performance data across digital channels to guide testing, optimization, and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • AI & Emerging Tools: Actively leverage AI and emerging marketing technology to boost campaign efficiency, find smarter workflows, and innovate EDO's digital marketing approach.
What We Are Looking For
  • 4–7 years in business-facing marketing roles across digital marketing, demand gen, or campaign activation in adtech, B2B SaaS, media, or agency environments
  • Hands-on proficiency with HubSpot CRM and CMS, LinkedIn Ads, Google Ads/SEM, ABM processes/platforms, and Google Analytics
  • Proven contractor and agency management experience — setting expectations, reviewing output, and driving accountability
  • Bias for action and comfort with ambiguity; able to prioritize independently, ship at 80%, and iterate without waiting for perfect information
  • Strong written communicator — can write sharp briefs, clear status updates, and compelling campaign copy
  • Someone who creates clarity instead of waiting for it — you bring recommendations, not just questions, and you close loops without being asked
  • Energized by ownership; you thrive when you're building something, not just maintaining it — and you're most effective when given real autonomy and real accountability
  • Curious and adaptable; proactive user of GenAI platforms and new digital tools
  • Familiarity with Adtech, media measurement, or data-driven industries a plus

EDO offers a competitive compensation package. Components of compensation include:

  • Mid-stage equity and competitive salary
  • Flexible Time Off
  • Medical, dental and vision coverage: EDO provides full coverage for individual medical plans and partial coverage for dependent or family plans.
  • 401(k) plan, FSA, HSA
  • When in an office, employee meals, snacks, and more

In compliance with New York and California Pay Transparency Law, the salary range for this position is $90,000 to $110,000 plus equity. We note the salary information as a general guideline only, as actual compensation may vary from posting. We will consider various factors to determine the offer for this role, including the scope and responsibilities of the position, relevant work experience, key skills, training, and business considerations.

EDO is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We do not discriminate based on race, color, ethnicity, ancestry, national origin, religion, sex, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, marital status, or any legally protected status. All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.
