Job Title: Grinder / Shop Labor
Job Description

This role focuses on operating grinding equipment to finish parts for the aerospace industry. You will work with automated grinding machines that produce high volumes of components per hour and will be responsible for overseeing two machines to ensure consistent quality and output.

Responsibilities

• Operate automated grinding machines to produce aerospace parts according to specifications.
• Monitor two grinding machines simultaneously to ensure proper operation and consistent production flow.
• Set up and adjust grinders and related equipment as needed for different part types and dimensions.
• Inspect parts visually and with measuring tools to verify quality and adherence to aerospace standards.
• Perform basic machine maintenance, cleaning, and troubleshooting to keep equipment running efficiently.
• Follow established safety procedures while working with grinding equipment and in a shop environment.
• Handle parts and materials safely and efficiently to support continuous production.
• Communicate any equipment issues, production delays, or quality concerns to appropriate personnel promptly.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with shop guidelines.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating grinders or similar machine tools in a production or shop environment.
• Ability to work with automated grinding machines and manage two machines at the same time.
• Familiarity with manual grinders and ID grinders or similar precision grinding equipment.
• Understanding of basic manufacturing processes, especially related to aerospace parts.
• Ability to read and follow work instructions, safety procedures, and basic part specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, consistent parts.
• Ability to work effectively on a second shift schedule.
• Physical capability to stand for extended periods and work in a warm shop environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience in the aerospace industry or with aerospace-grade components.
• Comfort working with high-volume automated production equipment.
• Basic mechanical aptitude for adjusting and troubleshooting shop machinery.
• Willingness to learn new grinding techniques and processes as production needs evolve.

Work Environment

This is a second shift position, typically running from 2:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The role is based in a busy production facility that can be hot, especially during the summer months. A swamp cooler helps moderate temperatures, and employees are allowed to take breaks in air-conditioned rooms as needed to stay comfortable. The environment is hands-on and shop-focused, with regular interaction with grinding machines and related equipment, and requires appropriate industrial attire suitable for a manufacturing setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Pacoima, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $40.00/hr.
