Job Summary

Manages, coordinates, and facilitates anesthesia services and resources for a service or facility within Prisma Health. Maintains consistency in implementing the hospital policies and practices in a manner that reflects the system's vision, mission, and values. Works collaboratively with anesthesia and periop leaders to ensure a system approach to anesthesia and periop occurs. Serves in a leadership role to exemplify the highest standards and values to all employees and customers. Facilitates compliance with Corporate Compliance and regulating agencies.
Designation of the Anesthesia Services Manager title for a position is made by the Senior Administrator of Perioperative Services in collaboration with Human Resources based on the Headcount assigned (greater than 30 employees) and number of locations supervised (3 or more locations).

Accountabilities

* Manages daily staffing to match workload and OR availability expectations, including approval of freelance, contract labor, and overtime in department in a cost effective manner. 15%

* Manages and coordinates non-clinical functions within the department including but not limited to in-service education, staff meetings, time allocation for support processes, work requests, and intra- and inter- departmental communication. 6%

* Addresses personnel issues, according to policy, including employee training, counseling, evaluation, disciplinary actions, termination, and other employee relations activities. 8%

* Actively participates in budget, planning, quality management, and process improvement for department and perioperative services. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and cost containment for anesthesia services.15%

* Accountable for compliance and facilitation of policies, Corporate Compliance, regulatory agencies, safety, and appropriate documentation. 8%

* Accountable for Quality Improvement for all anesthesia practice and services. Develop and implement, in collaboration with clinical staff, an action plan to resolve identified problems and evaluate corrective action toassure effectiveness. 8%

* Contributes to the ongoing operations of the hospital system through active participation at departmental and hospital meetings and committees involving management planning, problem solving, and change. 8%

* Actively participates in recruitment and retention. 10%

* Administers anesthesia as needed to maintain skills and competencies. 20%

* Functions as a back up to the Clinical Director of Anesthesia as needed. 2%

* Performs Point of Care testing , as required by regulatory requirements and organization policy and procedures.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of employees that may include final budget authority, hire/termination/disciplinary authority, performance appraisal responsibility. Job will be considered a member of the management staff with direct reports.

Minimum Education

Master's Degree-Anesthesia

Minimum Experience

3 years as a CRNA is required. 2 years anesthesia management experience is preferred.

CRNA - NURSE ANESTHETIST - CRNA

RN - ADVANCE PRACTICE - NLAP

In lieu of the Above Minimum Requirements

In lieu of the Master's Degree in anesthesia, will accept CRNA's which graduated before December 31, 2003 from an advanced, organized formal education program for nurse anesthetists accredited by the national accreditation organization of the CRNA specialty.

Other Required Experience
