Java Developer – Banking / Financial Services

Job Title: Java Developer
Location: Houston Downtown, TX – 100% Onsite

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Java Developer to join our client's team in the banking and financial services sector. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience developing scalable Java applications using Spring Boot and Microservices, along with expertise in AWS cloud services, Docker, Kubernetes, and ForgeRock.

The developer will work closely with business, architecture, security, and engineering teams to design, develop, test, and deploy high-performance applications. Experience leveraging AI tools throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable Java applications.
  • Develop and maintain Spring Boot-based Microservices and RESTful APIs.
  • Translate business and technical requirements into effective software solutions.
  • Develop cloud-native applications using AWS services.
  • Work with AWS EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and EKS.
  • Containerize applications using Docker and deploy/manage workloads using Kubernetes.
  • Work with ForgeRock technologies for identity, authentication, authorization, and access management solutions.
  • Conduct unit testing, debugging, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Participate in code reviews and follow software development and coding best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architects, developers, QA, DevOps, security, and business stakeholders.
  • Support application deployment, production troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Leverage AI-assisted development tools throughout the SDLC for coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and development productivity.
  • Stay current with emerging Java, cloud, DevOps, security, and AI technologies and recommend improvements where appropriate.

Required Skills

  • Strong hands-on experience with Java development.
  • Strong experience with Spring Boot.
  • Experience developing Microservices and RESTful APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including:
    • EC2
    • Lambda
    • API Gateway
    • S3
    • EKS
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with ForgeRock / ForgeRock Identity Platform.
  • Understanding of identity and access management concepts is preferred.
  • Experience with unit testing, debugging, and code reviews.
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC).
