Job Title: Mainframe Payroll Specialist

Location: Springfield, IL (Onsite)

Client: State of Illinois

Type: Contract

 

Overview:

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist with strong experience processing payroll on older/mainframe systems. The role involves handling complex payroll transactions, ensuring accuracy, and supporting compliance with organizational policies.


Key Responsibilities

 

  • Process payroll using legacy/mainframe systems.
  • Handle overtime, back pay, differentials, allowances, and supplemental pay.
  • Use Central Payroll System, WAGE, DNRA, and timekeeping tools.
  • Apply Personnel Code, Rules, Pay Plan, and Collective Bargaining agreements.
  • Review payroll data, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accuracy.
  • Supervise and support payroll staff as needed.
  • Use Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel for documentation and reporting.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Strong experience in payroll using mainframe/legacy systems.
  • 1 year of experience with CPS, WAGE, DNRA, and timekeeping systems.
  • 1 year of experience in complex payroll calculations.
  • 1 year applying HR/payroll rules, policies, and classification/pay plans.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
