Job description

Valiant is looking for a H-60 Contract Instructor Aircrew (CIA) to join our team!
Valiant is seeking an experienced H-60 Contract Instructor Aircrew (CIA) to support Fleet Replacement Squadron (FRS) training at Naval Station Norfolk. This role provides high-fidelity simulator, training device, and classroom instruction for H-60 enlisted aircrew students, evaluates performance, and supports continuous improvement of curriculum, mission scenarios, and training systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct scheduled instructor-led and instructor-supported simulator, training device, and systems instruction, including briefs and debriefs.
  • Deliver classroom instruction, academic testing, lesson plans, trainee guides, CRM instruction, and Instrument Ground School content applicable to aircrew.
  • Evaluate student aircrew training performance, mission execution, and crew coordination; document results in accordance with established criteria.
  • Provide instruction on H-60 aircraft systems, mission coordination, crew duties, and normal/emergency procedures applicable to enlisted aircrew.
  • Provide instruction on training device operation, briefing/debriefing standards, grading criteria, and assessment methodology.
  • Assist with simulator and training device inspections, certifications, mishap recreation support, and special projects.
  • Maintain, assess, and recommend improvements to mission scenarios, ensuring accuracy, realism, and alignment with current fleet requirements.
  • Review curriculum and recommend updates based on NATOPS changes, engineering changes, tactical updates, and evolving mission requirements.
  • Support Additional Duties including curriculum maintenance, testing instrument updates, feedback methodology, syllabus reviews, and validation of Maintenance Action Forms.
  • Support Collateral Duties including scheduling coordination, instructor training currency, instructional material management, required reading compliance, grading, attendance documentation, trainer performance evaluation, and instructor certification maintenance.
  • Attend required Government-scheduled meetings including Scheduling, Standardization, Instructor Aircrew, Phase Head, and Intelligence Updates.
  • Maintain general cleanliness and housekeeping of assigned spaces and work areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT: Active Secret clearance; TS/SCI preferred. Must be willing and able to obtain a TS/SCI in the future.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must be or have been an H-60 NATOPS-qualified Aircrewman within the previous five years, or have served as an H-60 simulator/training device instructor within the previous five years.
  • Must have completed at least one Fleet tour.
  • Minimum 800 hours of H-60 or similar aircraft flight time (aircrew).
  • Must successfully complete required NATOPS open-book, closed-book, and oral examinations, and maintain annual qualification currency.
  • Must demonstrate understanding of H-60 aircrew mission execution, crew procedures, tactics, threat systems, syllabus flow, and curriculum change processes.
  • Ability to maintain proficiency with syllabus changes, required reading, and updates to publications.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and maintain situational awareness during extended training scenarios.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to climb two flights of stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to lift, climb, and perform physical tasks as needed.
