Designs, develops and implements nondestructive testing (NDT) to evaluate the properties and conformance of a material, component or system without causing damage. Records, analyzes and reports test results. Writes testing plans and maintains test documentation in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements.
STRONGLY PREFERRED: NAS 410 Certification Level 3: State or ASNT issued industrial radiographer certificate - Ability to achieve GD-OTS Level 3 certification in alignment with NAS 410 standards, through education, training, and testing, and perform the required Level 3 requirements
General Profile
  • Working supervisor of a team (spends a portion of time performing the work supervised) or supervises the daily activities of production team members
  • Must have one or more of any direct report type
  • Analyses information to solve on-going problems and implements procedures and approaches to complete work
  • Responsible for results of the team
  • Provides direction to team using extensive knowledge of established precedents and practices
  • Consistent exercise of discretion & judgment

  • Participates in the development, implementation and administration of programs and activities within the nondestructive testing function of the organization.
  • Oversees that results are documented in accordance with the specification.
  • Supervises the work of personnel who utilize ultrasound, radiography, or other techniques during the testing process.
  • Supervises findings of equipment and system performance checks and recommends corrective actions.
  • Administers and oversees nondestructive testing procedures, policies, and techniques as necessary.
  • Leads, oversees and tracks NDT training as needed.
  • Leads and directs the work of other employees and has some responsibility for personnel actions including hiring, performance management, and termination with concurrence from HR & Senior Leadership.

      • Required education and experience: Associate's Degree and 3-5 years' experience OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience
      • Critical professional related technical skills; computer skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
      • Other: NAS 410 Certification Level 2: State issued industrial radiographer certificate - Ability to achieve Level I or Level 2 certification in alignment with NAS 410 standards, through education, training, and testing, and perform the required Level 2 requirements

      • Preferred education and experience: Bachelor's Degree
      • Discipline/Major: Science Degree in NDT or equivalent training and experience
      • Knowledge, skills & abilities: Technical expertise. Problem-solving skills. Time management skills. Manual dexterity. Non-destructive testing.

      • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
      • Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds.
      • May need to stand for long periods of time.
      • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
      • This position is Safety-Sensitive.

      Up to 25% travel likely.
